He was born in the hills and fields near Min Rimmon in Gondor, where his father worked the ground and hunted, and his mother was born. Some years ago he came north to Bree-land seeking after adventure, and though he did not find it, he stayed.

He travels near-constantly, though remaining for the most part in Eriador. He has been known to help any in need who can flag him down, and most perceive him as cheerful enough. Being of Dúnedain coloring and wandering, locals often mistake him for a Ranger and drive him off.

Indeed, he has often offered help to the Rangers--- sometimes, he's even taken up on it--- and counts many of them as friends despite protests. The fact he knows none of their names seemingly doesn't factor in.

He loves fishing, but will always either let his catch go or foist it off on the nearest settlement without explanation. Many have wondered on this, but none have as yet been successful with questioning.
