Outward Appearance | Though her family have long been mercantylers, not working the forges, they have the dark skin usually expected of the smiths of the Dwarves. Galdhi's is even darker, and her hair almost black, with tight gold-festooned braids before and behind. She is slightly less stocky than her brothers; those not of the Khazad might think her a scholar, rune-keeper, or healer, though they wouldn't recognize her as female. |

Background
Like her mother and most other women of the Dwarves, Galhdi was kept safe in the halls of the Khazad mountain fastnesses, in her case, the one behind Thorin's Gate. She was too curious for her own good, though. Sewing garments for her fathers and brothers to take on their ventures across the roads of Middle-earth wasn't enough. She wanted to help them more, and she wanted to do it by discovering things.
One day, listening to them speak over dinner about troubles they'd had on their last outing, Galhdi had the thought that a book might detail the roads, the lands, the people, and the challenges. But she found nothing amongst the libraries of Thorin's Hall, nor anywhere else she asked. Even the Elves didn't know of such a gazetteer or atlas. With much wheedling, and promises it would be helpful not just for him but for all their descendants and the honor of their house, she convinced her father to allow her to accompany them on their next outing so she could write a few pages in such a gazetteer. Eventually her work would be helpful enough that her father let her go out on separate outings, in the company of stout and trustworthy dwarves to guard her, to visit all the lands and all the roads.
