Dhelia was born a week before Yule. The most noticeable feature about her when she was held in the arms of her mother was her hazel eyes, which was uncommon for babies to have at birth. Her mother and father wanted her first name to have both a D for her mother's name (Denny), and an H for her father's name (Hal). This is where Dhelia Hazel came from.

At the age of three, there was a new edition to Dhelia's family. Her brother, Henry, was born in the spring. Things began to look up for her family. Though her Uncle, her father's brother, died a few years back, Hal seemed to be getting happier and happier day by day with his family. Her father's metal sold and her mother's tailored dresses were a hit among a few regular customers. They were neither poor nor rich, but were happy and content with the way they were living.

One night, when Dhelia was nine years old, a man came into their shop with a hood and mask covering his face. He struck Dhelia's mother and took what he could from the shop. It is unknown who he is, but he was the murderer of her merciful mother. Things began to change after her death.

Dhelia's father became depressed. Nervous. Paranoid. He was no longer smithing great weapons or armor. He had practically given up, only held onto the end of a string that were his children. Dhelia cooked and continued what she could with the metalsmithing, and her brother cleaned and learned a bit of tailoring. Though, her brother had a different plan. He did not want to stay in Bree-Town forever. He had always had an adventurous spirit. Even though Dhelia did not agree with his decision to leave, he did, when he was seventeen and Dhelia was twenty. It has been almost two years since his leaving and his current whereabouts are unknown. Dhelia's father misses him probably even more than she does.

Since Henry left, Dhelia has been taking care of everything. She cooks and cleans and she is trying to learn more and more from her father, who is slowly warming up to the idea of metalsmithing again. Every night, Dhelia will go home and do things for her father. Now, though, she has a position in the Bree Watch as a Watcher, which has been a goal of hers for a while. She has always wanted to help Bree and her people. But it does not stop her from taking care of her father. He has recently made Dhelia a sword all by himself, which is a huge step. Dhelia has met Mandic Carrver through the Bree Watch, the son of her father's brother. She hopes that sometime soon, Mandic will be able to meet her father in some hope that it will help her father's mental state.
