Outward Appearance

Michel Delving is known for its market.  Its Hobbit market.  So, understandably, when the locals found out a one-eyed smith from Rohan had built himself a tidy man-sized Hobbit hole in the south of the Shire, and had opened up shop in Michel Delving itself, it was the talk of the town, indeed, the region, for many a night.  The smith himself, a tall, rugged man by the name of Damric Alden, paid little attention to the rumormongers, preferring to focus wholeheartedly on his seventeen year old niece and his work.

"Why is he here, and not in Bree land?" many a Green Dragon patron asked, so much so that the bartender began to grow tired of their questions.

"How should I know? Ask him yourself!" he would retort, often losing himself a very self-important customer. But no one ever did.  There was something about Alden that spoke of darker things, of a darker past he was all too happy to leave behind.  It was scary, in a way, and many hobbit mothers warned their children to stay away from him.  Of course, the childrens inquisitive nature demanded they disobey this rule, and would often tresspass on the smiths lands, only to be chased off by the man himself, a bemused smile on his face.

Background

The second son of a Rider of Rohan, Damric was walking in the countryside around Edoras when his older brother and his father rode out against an Orc tribe in Rohan.  the charge went terribly wrong. He stumbled across the body-strewn battleground and soon found his fathers corpse, although his brother was no-where to be found.  He set out, aged thirteen, to find his brother and bring him home, as he refused to believe his brother was dead without seeing the body.

He soon tracked his brother to Bree-land, where he fought off the Blackwold attack on Archet alongside a mysterious figure.  After the battle, the mysterious figure dissapeared, and when Damric inquired about him he discovered the figure to be Damlan, his brother.  Furious that he had fought alongside Damlan and not recognised him, Damric set out again to find him.  Many years later, he tracked his brother back to Bree-land to the Order of the Elanor, whose leader explained that Damlan had headed west to say goodbye to his adopted father, Amraes Sarrell, an Elf who was journeying to the Undying lands.  Damric hurriedly travelled to Ered Luin, where he found Damlan saying his final farewell to Amraes.  Together, the two brothers set out to return to Rohan together.

However, along the way they were attacked by Bandits from the North, and Damlan was slain.  With his last breath, he told Damric to take the Sarrell inheritance armour and serve Bree-land as he once had. Tearfully, Damric swore he would and took up arms against the Bandits to avenge his brothers death.

He joined the Order of knights Damlan had fought for, swiftly becoming the right hand of Sir Kerl Duskblossom, the Knight-Commander.  Ironically, this was the same role Damlan had held, before his untimely demise.  he also grew close to Lady Dieudonnae Hughes, but was frequently placed at rivals with Sir Bucta Wolfpine, a fellow knight, who would later go on to become Hughe's fiancee.
