Outward Appearance

Height: Dieudonnae stands at 5 ft, 5 in.

Build:  She is small, and thin, with "Hourglass" being an apt description for her body figure.

Eye Colour: Her iris is a cerulean blue, and her eyelashes are long and dark.

Hair Length/Colour: Dieudonnae's hair is black in colour, and is cut short at her jaw.

Distinguishing Marks, etc: Dieudonnae is missing her right eye, and there is a nasty scar that runs across the empty socket, through the eyelid, and down her cheek.

Appearance: Dieudonnae is a beautiful woman, though grim and authoritative. Her dark hair, cut short near her jaw, greatly contrasts her porcelain skin. She is thin and graceful, her frame delicate and comely. However, her face is greatly marred for its missing eye, the hideous and empty socket often concealed by a patch. Her remaining eye is a pretty blue colour, and the brow above is arched sharply. Though she is seemingly tame and docile, she may prove to be a snake, deadly in its wrath.

Behaviour: Though she was once kind and gentle, likely to laugh rather than scowl, she has since become impatient and harsh. She projects for others an image of indifference, or at the very least, mild annoyance. She attempts to shield any glimpse of sentiment from others, though it must be noted that she is not incapable of kindness, friendship or even love. Putting aside all the bad that is attributed to her, she is known for keeping her head in heated situations, and for being decisive in her actions, something that many would name wisdom. This is not to say that she cannot be angered, as she can when refused something that she finds important or vital, a trait found in most of higher status.

Quirks/Eccentricities: Dieudonnae tends to remove her eye-patch when she wishes to place emphasis on the serious gravity of a subject or situation. Whenever she is nervous or anxious she places her bottom lip between her teeth, resulting in an odd frown. She also prefers to never stray from a path or paved road when walking or riding, and when she opens a door she is careful so that it does not touch the wall. She may also often be observed twirling on her finger a golden ring lined with several small stones.

Religion: Although she does not believe in any one god, she will not speak ill of any.

Education: As the daughter of a well-to-do family, and as the widow of a foreign noble, Dieudonnae has received a formal education.

Language: Westron, and various ceremonial languages.

Weapons (If Any): Often at her waist, she bears a small dagger. She is also currently learning to use a sword, being tutored by Hector.

Position/Occupation: After her marriage to Aornn Hughes (a noble from a town far to the North, called "Buckhannah"), Dieudonnae shared in his coin and in his titles (Though the latter only holds weight in Bree-land for the former).

Background

Dieudonnae (Pronounced:dyoo-do-nee)was born the daughter of Donathan and Madelyne Dewlocke, wealthy merchants of Combe. With her youth and her beauty, she was able to capture the eye of a young, foreign noble by the name of Aornn Hughes. In Dieudonnae's sixteenth year, Aornn offered a great fortune for her hand, and so they were wed. At her request, they settled in Bree, near enough to her family. For nigh on two decades she was his faithful and loving wife, counseling him in all things, as adept in the use of gold and power as he. However, she did not bear him any children and so, to their unending sorrow, was assumed to be infertile and barren.

Yet on a quiet night, during the third month of the year (T.A.) 3018, a group of thieves were able to slip past Aornn's small Watch. Thinking that the two nobles would have since fallen to sleep, they sought to pilfer from the coffers in the Estate. Waking to discover the intruders, Aornn took up his sword against them, resulting in his death. Attempting to aid her beloved, Dieudonnae lost her right eye to a wicked dagger.

After the funeral ceremonies, Dieudonnae was declared the heiress to the wealth and power of Aornn's name. She pleaded with the captain of the Bree-town guards, asking that he find the men responsible for her husband's death. Her longtime friend, Bucta (whom had been the leader of Aornn's watch-guard), felt compelled to aid in the search, for he saw Aornn's death as his own failure. Upon the next day, three men were hanged, accused of the Lord Hughes' murder. But her anger was not ended, and so she began to hire skilled mercenaries to execute the criminal and uneducated of Beggar's Alley.

Nigh on a year later, Dieudonnae encountered Kerl Duskblossom, a man broken in mind and spirit. Returning to Bree-land, having seen the lot of his soldiers slain in Ered luin due to a betrayal, he came home to witness his sister and nephew struck down in the burning of Archet. Pitying him, Dieudonnae offered to supply him with more warriors, that he may exact his revenge on those that killed his family. He accepted her offer, though he had ideas of chivalry on his mind, rather than those of vengeance. The Lady Hughes knighted him, and established his Order of the Elanor, a band willing to lay their lives down for the safety of Bree's people.

Originally, Dieudonnae supported them with only her mercenaries and her wealth. Then she offered them her counsel, and eventually, her blade. Within the Order, she developed a romance with Bucta, whom she had kept in contact with after her husband's passing. It was an uneasy one, at first, yet has since become less awkward for the both of them, and one might note how her air of nonchalance fades when in his presence.

It seemed, for a time, that fortune smiled upon her. Until, she was made aware as to the corruption within the Order. It began with the death of Bucta's child, and then proceeded, the conflict rising to a head with the betrayal of the Order's own Damric Sarrell. Feeling this disloyalty a personal assault on her, Dieudonnae confronted Kerl, the Captain of the Elanor, and killed him. She allowed the blaming eye to be cast upon Damric, and took leadership of those few of the Order she found useful. Now she wields the power of the Remnant, seeking to destroy the opposing faction, the Exiles, under Sarrell's command.
