Having his lost his father( a cooper) and the isolated family home and farm to a Wildmen raid, Dagden, and his mother  fled Rohan, yet their path was to become grimmer. Having somehow reached the Lone Lands a pack of wargs savaged his mother and he, himself barely made it out alive, (He would return later to bury his mothers remains under the shade of a tree) His hatred of elves stemming from this as they were not far from their borders.

Having reached Bree he scratched out a living making barrels, and took to hunting game to try make some extra coin as well. He soon became somewhat of a good shot however he is still some what lacking in experience. He drudged through his days, until a chance encounter with a member of the Esquires of the Riddermark gave him the idea to return home and fight for the memory of his parents.

So far on his travels to Rohan, Dagden suffered a near fatal wound and if it wern't for the aid of elves he would have perished. Though still wounded and pained Dagden carries himself onwards with the group, never once faltering due to his wounds.
