 Hanomir is originally from Rohan, but long has it been since he visited, and now considers Bree-land to be his home.  He was sent originally by King Theoden to fulfil a private task in Bree-land, which he did complete.  However, upon his arrival, he was greeted by the news that his brother, Caromir had been killed.  He quickly set about finding out what happened, discovering that his brother had joined the Bree Guard, and was killed on duty.
