Mad the Brown Hare - A Poem

in

Mad the Brown Hare
Now Spring's in the air
It's springing about
Its head in the air
And without a care
The things it will dare
No leaping's too far
For Mad the Brown Hare

Now raising its paws
Some boxing's in store
It floats round the field
And boxes some more
This maddest of fights
At dawn's early light
A leap to the left
A roll to the right

There's no time to rest
For Springtime is best
It's jumping about
And beating it chest
It can't always last
It has to stop fast
To munch on some weeds
And nibble some grass

And pricking it ears
For showing no fear
It outruns a fox
Which never gets near
At sight of the hounds
It runs and round
And leaping a hedge
Escapes with a bound

For Mad the Brown Hare
Will always be there
Just dancing in fields
At Spring's lovely fair
You'll see everywhere
When Spring's in the air
A land of delights
And Mad the Brown Hare
