A fate avoided...
Gently she opend the door to the half ruined inn and stepped inside. The dark hallway leading to the mainhall seemed to envelope her as she silently closed the door behind her. The few people in the inn who saw her hurried out of her way and some tried to hide behind the tables and pillars. All had turned silent save from the noise from the fireplace. As she walked further into the room the light from the fire seemed to cause her mask and armour to shimmer and glow. She looked to her left and then to her right, she spotted the waitress hiding behind a pillar and as she got close enough the woman shook her head and pointed towards a door at the far end of the room. She pushed the door open only to see there was a stairway leading down benath the inn, the dim light of the candles in the dwindling stair danced in the runes of her mask and she smiled as she drew her sword and walked down the stairs. As she was about to take the last few steps she heard a scream, a woman screaming in pain. She laughed and stepped into the dark room the stairs had led her too.
She stopped and listened, but no more scream came. She could see light coming from three doors, one on each side of the room before her. As she walked towards the door to the left she let the tip of her blade be drawn against the wooden floor, the sound of the steel scraping the wood caused her once more to smile. She kicked the door open but to her disspointment the room was empty. She walked over to the door to the right, slowly she opend it and once more the disspointment found her. With a grin she then looked over towards the last door, with firm steps she walked towards it, she raised her hand and placed it on the handle. The door was locked, she laughed and her words seemed filled with cold as she spoke:
“A little mouse ran to hide...yet the trail she left was great and wide...”
She paused and listend, no sound seemed to come from the other side of the door. She placed a hand on the wooden door and spoke once more.
”Open the door and I promise I will not kill you on sight, you cannot run any further...your fate has come...”
With those words she begun to whisper in a dark ancient tounge, the words of ancient power caused the allready thick air around her to shiver and as the room seemed to turn colder and her words louder a thin mist begun to creep from her hand. Seeking its way into the cracks and into the lock of the wooden door the mist begun to shimmer slightly and the wood begun to crack loudly. As the door begun to shake and tremble she took a step back. With a last word of power the door cracked into piecies and the splinter shattered througout the cellar. With her sword held firmly she stepped over the debris and into the room, her eyes fell upon a young woman standing there. She was pale and her entire body seemd to shiver as Nalokha looked at her with grim eyes. With a laughter she raised her blade and walked slowly towards the woman.
”If you decide to flee...don’t do so with friends who reveal the way you take. No one can save you now...you belong to me!”
With those words she took a swift step forward and thrusted her sword through the stomach of the woman. She smiled as she felt the flesh parting to the steel of the blade and as the woman fell to the floor with loud scream, clutching the sword at her stomach, Nalokha laughed once more and placed herself over the woman. With a twisting motion she drew the blade from the womans stomach, blood dripping on the floor as she held the sword at her side. She knelt down and grabbed the woman by her chin, seeing the tears and fear in the womans eyes she smiled, delighted at what was about to come. Just as she was about to raise the blade and end the womans life she heard a groan at the far side of the bed that was in the room. She took a step back and listened, another groan was heard and Nalokha stepped around some of the debris to get a closer look. What then happend she would remember for a long time, from out of no where came two armoured men. They had heard the womans scream echoing in the stairs up to the mainhall and they now charged into the room with their swords drawn. To her luck the debris on the floor caused one of them to stumble and fall and the other who blocked the door was easily avoided when she threw herself past him. A sudden pain in her left shoulder struck her, she did not wish for a battle of blades in the small cellar rooms. So without further thought she ran up the stairs and as she ran into the main hall of the inn she pusshed those in her way aside and left the inn in anger.
One of the men followed her outside, he was quick and his rage great. He alsmot caught her off guard as she turned around to see if she was followed. She graciously ducked the blade and the fight that followed all but drained her of her strength. The man fought in complete anger and his rageful blows held the might of the storngest of beasts. She had to rely on her wits and gracefulness should she wish to win. For every blow struck agasint her she either parried or avoided, but she knew she could not keep this up for long. She was tired and the pain in her shoulder reminded her that she was probably wounded allready. The man tackled her to the ground, she fell backwards and landed hard. But as the armoured warrior raised his blade for the killing strike she gathered the strength she had left and threw herself off the ground towards him. As she passed beneath his left side she lashed out with her blade at him, his scream revealed that her aim had been true and as she regained her footing she begun to run. A lod roar followed her in the wind and a curse, she took the risk and stopped, looking back for brief moment. She saw the armoured man raising his blade to the heavens and cursing her name, but as he dropped his sword and fell to his knees, clutching with his hands beneath his left arm, she laughed. With the night approaching and the wind increasing she turned her back at the warrior, sheathed her sword and walked silently into the wilderness...
