Dreams - A Poem

I'm closing my eyes in the evening
And slowly I drift far away
My bed is afloat on the moonbeams
As wonderful sights come my way

The land of my dreams now surrounds me
It stretches as far as I see
The vision is simply amazing
I wonder what lies there for me

The meadows are green and delightful
With flowers all dotted around
The colours are just like a rainbow
Cascading from out of the ground

And rivers of blue are all flowing
The colour as deep as the sky
Reflecting the golden sun glowing
It sparkles like stars in the sky

And birds in the sky are all singing
Their melody drifts on the breeze
And with it the gentlest singing
That comes from the whispers of trees

The vision it starts slowly fading
As rises a new sun this day
A flooding of light now awakes me
And washes my slumbers away

And so, I now sigh disappointed
But then I catch glimpses of blue
For when I now look out my window
I see that my dreams have come true!

For all that I've ever wanted
The thing I will always desire
Is found just outide of my window
My home in the Wonderful Shire
