War... War had been declared on us. The bastard Sentinels had played there own game, they had waited it out for so long, knowing that Bree's own people would tolerate us for just so long, and they simply added torch to the fire. Townsfolk would gather and surround our people as they entered Inns. Our names passed over lips throughout all of Bree, even the guards began an attempt to save face in this. We was slowly being corner and our every step was pledged against us. But who were they to stand before us, why should they be allowed to take from us what the circle had worked so hard to build, we were masters of war and when cornered, the savage beasts that would bite with greater cunning than could be foreseen.
The Sentinals had begun to hunt us, and it was here I truely came to find my element. War was a game to me and one I enjoyed so much, even by this point, my middle years, i had played company to war so often that I could tell my enemy what they was to do, weeks before they had thought of it themselves. I knew misdirection was key and numbers meant little when it is not armies that battle but gangs within the city walls. The shadows became our battleground and fights erupted in the darkest of walkways. Within a few months The Sentinals were beaten back and the game became ours once again. They now became our play things, to toy with when we saw fit.
Emmelin and I, we became the best our relationship was going to be, we enjoyed these times of war so greatly, almost our entire days were spent side by side tormenting those who dared war against us. We hunted Sentinals all over Middle-earth. They hid all over, the Lone-lands supplied its open fields to show us tracks, The Weather-hills contained deserted camps, where fires still burning had been left in haste. They had turned tail so often and took refuge in a Shire neighbourhood. We learnt of there secret meetings, and burnt down their houses while barricading theirs exits..
It was not long before i heard the most unfortunate news. The leader of The Sentinals, Aoden, had been killed. I hated this news, for my most joyful time was to come to an end. I had always hoped we would survive long enough so that when i truly had my fill of this war, i might march to destroy our enemy myself and claim victory. My heart sank for their fallen leader, I watched The Sentinals mourn and I mourned also for I had no desire to claim success until I called upon it.
My thoughts insane with rage by now, I hoped to reignite their war, submission was not a term I wished to grant. So I called upon Emmelin again and on the night of Aoden's funeral, we rode out and found his fresh grave, while she kept watch, I dug the six feet of dirt to find his wooded bed and opened it, his body greying, I removed the head and left the graveyard with his casket still on show. The head I carried to The Sentinals homestead where I placed it upon a pike and left it for display outside the barracks. For weeks they raged and fought with me, at one point they even captured Emmelin and tortured her and we found way to set her loose. They never did declare war again, and I was to be content with our victory, the circle had there win.
