Diary of a bard: 1 black and white

For quite a while, I have kept my concerns in my head and heart. Perhaps writing them down will help me process what has happened last days.

After the assault on Mirobel in Eregion with a band of brave Eldar, I have returned to Imladris to report our victory to the council of Vanimar.  On my arrival I thought my eyes where lying, for there was that Avari. How can one who claim to despite the Eldar or how she says “fancy elves”, walk the grounds of Imladris? With the thoughts of this I rode towards the Last homely house of Lord Elrond the half-elf. I changed my white and golden armour for the black uniform of Vanimar, and wrote some after action reports for when my lord Anglachelm would return. Some hours passed when I signed those documents. I saw Ithil’s appearance when I looked outside the window and heard the voices of many within the halls of Lord Elronds house. I had forgotten that there was a gathering of Eldar in the Hall of Fire again. I did put down my writing feather and I left my room. In the hall did stood my spouse, Athlidhrael. She walked towards me and said with a calm voice:”You have lost track of time, didn’t you?” With crimson on my cheeks I could only nod to confirm this. I took her hand and escorted her to the Hall of Fire. When we entered the hall was filled with many elves. Soon we enjoyed the company’s tales, stories and music. Halfway the night, I watched how Athlidhrael danced on the music of Lady Isilmewen, her moves where as gracefull as the tunes of the harp. I dreamed away, slowly the surrounding blurred away and my focus was only on my spouse. Suddenly my focus was lost, and I saw her, the Avari named Minyelaire. What did she do here, after all encounters I had with her. She was talking even with other eldar, smiling and all. Some thoughts did go trough my mind, one of them was:”She is trying to disturb the elven community.” I closed my eyes for a brief moment, knowing that my head was tired of the writing and that I must postpone judgements about others. I joined my spouse and danced with her, for a long time. Her laugh made me forget that Avari. This soon ended, for the elves around the Avari left the room, and while I was dancing I saw her staring at me with hate in her eyes. She left the hall after some minutes as well, but in my mind her yellow eyes where still staring....... My mind was pondering why, she looked this way. The rest of the evening I couldn’t enjoy company of elves anymore. After I escorted Lady Athlidhrael to her room, I returned to the hall of fire.

There near the fires stood Lord Veryacano, I wished to bring the good news about our assault on Mirobel, alas my words did not found there way to his ears it seems. The Hammer Lord just stared at the black uniform.  He pointed at it and slowly spoke:”why do you where the uniform of the Order of the Hammer?” I tried to look a proud and replied:”I do wear these clothes, so one could lead the Order of the Hammer in your absence” A loud laugh descended upon me. “You? you are a bard, stick to the instruments of entertainment, the I will wield the instruments of war.” the Lord said. He continued:”in addition to this all we work with strict ranks, and uniforms, this uniform doesn’t suit your rank. Now go and return this uniform to the armoury.” What could I do against this decision? Knowing it’s for the best for order withing the house of Vanimar I did go to my room. There I did change clothes and I returned the black uniform to the armoury. When I got back to my room, I saw the Avari sneaking out of my room. Great fury took me and I scared her away with some harsh words. She ran away, just what I expected from the unwilling. My thoughts did go to my bed, they must be covered with mud or my other clothes, this Minyelaire enjoyed making my clothes dirty. When I entered the room nothing was there........no mud, no mess, no ring, no damage..............A shiver ran trough my spine.......NO RING!!! That filty Avari, not is she unwilling but she is a thief aswell ! my betrothal ring has been stolen, she must have taken it. All pieces of the puzzle fell on it’s place, in the Hall of Fire she inspected me to see what she can steal from me! I rushed outside, no trace of the Avari could be found........

Filled with hate and sorrow I returned to my room, why did she took this silver ring. What use is this for her? I made a promise to myself that I will find this ring, after a night of rest.......
