The Blademaster's Forms

On the various post boards in Lindon, Rivendell, Caras Galadhon, and Felegoth, a new glimmering scroll appears, bearing the following message: Lessons of the First Age Blademasters Ancient Elven Combat Training and Martial Forms Embark on a journey into the past, where the younger generation of elves and the free peoples will learn the secrets and martial prowess of the High Elves. These teachings, passed down through the ages, will be shared by Blademaster Maegirth, one of the few remaining Cuiviénen elves and a noble Sentinel of the last elven kingdoms and fiefs.

Event details:

                                                 Training Exercises

Sword Forms and Techniques, Reflex Training and Footwork Drills, Shadow Fighting:  Participants will engage in friendly rp /roll (d6) rp sparring or shadowfighting in several forms, focusing on learning techniques rather and collectively /e rp combat situations without the need of gameplay sparring.

Group Drills: Participants will be divided into small teams, each with specific objectives, such as simulating defending a position or endurance military drills. This setup encourages teamwork and strategy while complimenting individual power.

Simulated Battles: Maegirth will create a controlled battle scenario, such as defending a position against waves of enemies (imaginary, described by Maegirth). Players must use tactics and the techniques they’ve learned, rather than relying solely on raw power. (edited)

Event Rules and Etiquette

To ensure fairness and immersion, the following rules will be observed during combat RP: No Instant Kills: High-level players should avoid actions that would instantly defeat Maegirth or others. Instead, roleplay challenges or near-misses to keep the combat engaging and fair. Focus on Storytelling: The event is centered around storytelling and character development. Winning or losing a fight is less important than how the character grows from the experience. Respect the Moderator: As the event leader, Maegirth’s decisions in combat are final. This keeps the story cohesive and ensures no one’s immersion is broken.

Combat Roles

!To make the experience immersive, participants are encouraged to mentally adopt one of the following roles pre-event!

Mentor/Instructor (Maegirth): As the mentor, Maegirth will guide the younger elves, offering strategic advice, providing buffs (through RP, not mechanics), and demonstrating special techniques.

Rivendell Sword Student/Galadhrim Spear Phalanx Student: These players will focus on one-on-one combat, engaging enemies (or sparring partners) in duels. Their role is to showcase finesse and skill while overpowering opponents.

Mirkwood Marksmanship Student: These characters will focus on ranged attacks or providing support (e.g., distractions, covering fire). They might not directly engage in melee combat, hit and run tactics being their speciality.

Lindon Scouting Student: These characters will focus on protecting others or scouting the battlefield, providing critical information, and securing strategic points.

Examples of RP Combat Sequences

Example 1: “With a swift movement, draws his/her sword and steps into a defensive stance, keeping his/her eyes locked on Maegirth, waiting for/attempting the perfect moment to strike.”

Dice Roll: Player /roll 6 and rolls a 4 (Partial Success).

Maegirth's Response: “Your stance is strong, but your footing is off-balance. Maegirth effortlessly executes a sidestep, though the blade grazes his sleeve.”

Example 2: “<Player> takes a step back, nocking an arrow and aiming carefully at Maegirth, trying to land a precise shot near his shoulder.

Dice Roll: Player /roll 6 and rolls a 5 (Success).

Maegirth's Response: “Maegirth anticipates your move. Twisting at the last moment, letting the arrow pass close enough to hear it whistle by.” Join Us!
