From time to time, the Dûnedain of the north come together to share news and discuss matters of importance. A summoning to such gathering have been issued, spread among the Dûnedain themselves and creatures friendly to them. A summoning to an old ruin within the Angle, the hidden settlement for the Dûnedain of the north.

Date:
January 28th, 2024
Time:
Location:
Southolt, Bree-land homesteads, 5 long street.

Event details:

January 28th, 2100 CET. Southolt, Bree-land homesteads, 5 long street.

  • There will be an introduction by the host of the event, followed by a round around the table, where all characters present themselves.
  •
  • After the presentation, the floor is open for news and important matters that need to be resolved. Open discussion.
  •
  • After the meeting, there will be room for socializing and those with musical talent, can play a tune or two. No modern music please.

As the event will take place within a homestead, you can easily bring a low level character to the event. In character the event will take place in Angle, but for all purposes a kinship house in the Bree-land homesteads will act as the ruin within Angle.

OOC details:
They say that many role-players have a Dûnedain character, but few roleplay them. This event is an attempt to gather those who own a Dûnedain character of the north, to see if we can explore the possibilities to create more roleplaying events and stories together.

During the event all attending role-players will be given the opportunity to present themselves in character. So please prepare to say a few words with your character, but not a lengthy tale.

Also we want players to bring news or concerns to the gathering, that might lead up to more role-playing sessions/events. The idea is small scale operations for a few rangers, like patrols of neglected areas, hunting dark creatures and/or gathering news of importance. Please forward an in-game mail to Duinndir or here, if you want to bring something to the table, so we can get it organized into the event and present it for the gathering.

Some guidelines for those attending this event. Please read them carefully.

  • There will be no room for other humans, dwarfs, elves or hobbits for this event, as this is for Dûnadan characters of the north only. Maybe later, if we get our stories and events going, it will be more natural to involve other races, but not for this event.
  •
  • We know there is a different intake on the lore regarding the Dûnedain, but we prefer to stay close to the lore/information you can find here: Dúnedain of Arnor - Tolkien Gateway.

If you are moving away from it and/or use the in-game lore, try to avoid mentioning that during the event. Being vague on such issues makes it easier to build stories together, but also create room for better interaction. For example, according to the lore, the kingdom of Angmar is no more in the late third age. It is a desolate place, the same applies for the North downs. In-game there is still a kingdom around and settlements, made for the purpose to create content to the game. Keeping such things vague, helps if two role-players have different intake on the lore.

  • Timelines are important for those who role-play together, in order to create a common ground.
The hosted event (and the following) will be placed in the vague late third age. Also, during the event there will be no reference to cannon characters and stories. We do not need Aragorn as our best buddy or Elrond as our foster father. Let's create our own stories eh?

  • Forced emotes and fireworks are not welcomed during the event and please leave pets behind.
  •
  • Consider your outfit and weapons for good immersion. The Dünedain is not known for bright flashy clothing. Also, bringing a huge two handed sword with flaming in-game special effects is rather unrealistic and will ruin the immersion, so please don't. You can buy “Normal weapon aura” to the Traveller’s Quartermaster near the fountain in Bree, and use that to negate the special aura effects on weapons.
  •
  • And most importantly.
Be nice and respectful towards each other, when attending.

Make sure to follow the lead of the event organizer and give enough room for others to respond.

The Westron name for Dúnadan was simply Adûn, "westerner", but this name was seldom used. This name was reserved to those Númenóreans who were friendly to the Elves.
