Harvestmath 3 - Daisy

Dearest,

Ceonbura and I returned to my cottage after the day of swimming and eating the food in our picnic basket. I was exhausted by the end of it, and ready to get inside before the hour turned late. The cottage resides on the edge of the Old Forest and while I long ago decided to face my fears, Ceonbura was still clearly nervous of it. I could not blame her, for I was terribly afraid when I first moved into the cottage. The man who sold the cottage to me and handed the deed over probably sold it for so cheap because of it's closeness to the forest.

I left her sleeping in the room, taking myself onto the porch to sit and watch the gloom and shadows in the distance. It was so late when we returned, I did not think it safe for her to walk home alone. Now I am restless, unused to having another person in my home, especially for so long. It is strange but it is not discomforting. Things always seemed to be moving at the edge of the forest during this hour and it always sends chills down my spine each time I see it. And yet, each time, I still find myself on the porch most nights, watching the darkness.

There was a chill in the air and I went inside after a time, returning to the warm room where the hearth had glowing embers still in the ash. In the morning, I decided I would prepare a large spread for breakfast.

love,

Honeymist
