Protection of the sisters

It was becoming real to her now. In just a few days, she would be protecting Cwennie and any other woman that would be joining the first siege. It was a little frightening, but she had people she cared about now. People to protect and she is determined not to let anyone down. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Yes, that is a method that Sicarra is familiar with.

The afternoon sun shone brightly in the sky, it was a relatively mild winter day.  She stared at her reflection through the winding river. Moving, always, moving, always doing. Sometimes she didn't know how to stop herself. Because she feared that if she stopped moving even for a moment. All the feelings, all the disturbing thoughts, would come back. And her Nan taught her that tears were sacred.. feelings were sacred. Such things were not meant to be shown in the company of just anyone. Yet, she broke, she finally broke in front of Dandy and Ryheric. She knew it needed to come out. But there was a quiet loathing of herself. 'Foolish girl. Why did you show weakness? Why did you break? When you were raised to be strong? The world owes you nothing. You must give back and it must take. As a woman, you must work harder for the respect that you wish.  Just because I'm in the ground. It doesn't mean I can't live through you.'

Nan's voice.. in her head.. it reveals itself at times. She couldn't ignore it.  The reflection in the water twists into a scowl and she springs back to her feet. Enough dawdling, this was going to be her only break for the rest of the day. If she dies at least she will know that she did something useful with her life.  After she left home..
