Nearing of Durin's Day, XXXX Fourth Age (2022)

Today I left my camp at the ruins of Eregion and set off to the Northern Pass through the Misty Mountains with hopes to reach the Vales of Anduin tomorrow. As I entered Rivendell I decided I had to pass through the Last Homely House to converse with Elrond and meditate in the Hall of Fire. After my short conversation with Elrond I headed to the Hall of Fire where I meditated for some hours and as I meditated a young elf approached me. I did not ask their name but she quickly asked about Insomnia. My trusty companion that lay hidden on my satchel. "She's Insomnia", I said, to which she replied: "Does it have trouble sleeping?" I laughed inside and looked at her and replied about the origin of her name. "So you brought her from Mordor." Soon into our conversation another elf walked in the room. Then another elf walked in the room, who I promptly greeted with a bow. From the shadows of the pillars another young elf showed up. He wore a heavy leather apron and had a neutral expression, I soon learned his name to be Tarinnas, who greeted the elf who had just walked in who was called Nautiel. These two elves caught my interest I must confess. Tarinnas was expressionless and had prepared a gift for Nautiel which he already seemed to know, and Nautiel did not make a sound. She didn't speak, whisper, and if I didn't know better I would've said she didn't breathe. Nautiel communicated in a sign language that reminisced me to that I had used during The Last Alliance while standing watch with Thranduil's troops, but I didn't know it fully. I could only catch two or three words, but they were mostly places or races. Little did I know I would spend the next 3 hours conversing with my newfound friends. Even though she didn't speak, Nautiel acted youthful and had childish mannerisms, while Tarinnas acted reserved. I spoke to them about the East, Nautiel apparently hadn't been there since The Last Alliance, or so I understood, and Tarinnas seemed uninterested in what lied outside of Imladris . We also spoke about crafts, as I showed them my set of metalworking tools, other races, the world and I got to know them a little. I must say I took quite a liking to them and I hope to see them next time I'm about. In the end we bid each other farewell and each one of us left the serene Hall of Fire out into the world, as I climbed up the slope to the Misty Mountains pass I thought about how we will meet again, if at all. Now I'm sitting in a camp north-west of the Giant's Needle at the light of a campfire under a crevice in the mountainside. Tomorrow morning I'll already be almost reaching Végbar and the Forest Gate shortly after. I'll be at Erebor days before Durin's Day.
