Making Preparations

(OOC Note: This story is unrelated to these chronicles https://laurelinarchives.org/node/51146 and https://laurelinarchives.org/node/59490, and takes place some time after. I have them divided into separate chronicles to avoid confusion in plots. I'm sorry for the confusing order!)

Dru never thought she would walk through these streets again after returning to Gondor. Yet, here she was, in Bree again.

She had felt as though something was calling her, though she could not explain it. In truth, she never desired to return. Yet now, with the chance to face her final fears, she thought perhaps this was why she was back.

"Or was it to keep him from getting himself killed, now that he is back as well?"

In truth, the timing of it all was so strange. She had returned, only to find Stitches. Her heart broke, finding her truest friend in such condition. Still, it was better than him being dead as she had thought for all these years.

And he was getting better. They both were. She could feel herself becoming more of her old self, from before Mahnik and the rest of Relight. Especially now, with the chance to end their attempts to poison both of their lives...for good.

She shook her head as she slid one of her daggers into a sheath and began sharpening the other.

She still did not trust this Selvius. But he held few enough of their cards that she did not worry of the possibility he would betray them. If he spoke truth, then she felt bitterly sorry for him.

But she would not attempt to sort out whether he was honest until the end. Or, perhaps Stitches would sort it out...if she did not make it to the end.

Still. Whichever path this plan took...she would finally have peace, one way or another.

At least she had seen him smile again, as he used to.
