A widow's poem

I miss the days when you would hold me.

When we would laugh at all who scoffed at us.

The world never knew us not truly.

We wore our masks and held our heads high.

Waiting for the day where we could finally rest.

But you went before I.

And met an unexpected end.

I couldn't save you.

None could.

But still, I love you.

The day you first held my hand.

That is when I became awake.

Farewell for now.

I will see you in the halls of crystal.

When all is said and done.

Rest well dear man.

You gave me life again.
