A vaguely blue aura entered the bedroom from an open window, the sun rays reflecting off of the moon, capturing the hue of the atmosphere and beckoning it inside. The stars were so bright - so vivid - that it joined the blue aura in the room and made it scintillate in a dream-like state.
Whilst his gaze was fixated on the dreamy light show happening in front of him, Burlnard found himself deep in thought. The air was peaceful, and he had finally found a moment of serenity.
Afterwards he moved his head down to the woman laying beside him, who was facing the opposite direction. He placed his left hand atop her shoulder and gently pulled her to face him.
"Hmm?"
She responded as she turned around, blonde hair shuffling, her eyes meeting his.
"I just want to speak right now... No arguing, no interruptions. Just let me talk."
Burlnard responded, his voice accompanying tones of both heart and hesitancy.
As he said this his left palm would move from her shoulder up to her jaw-line, tenderly cupping it. His heart was beating considerably faster at this point as their eyes locked in place with each other.
During this moment in time all insecurities left his mind. There was no trace of jealousy, hatred or pessimism. He felt completely equal with her; as if they were destined to be together and that no one else could possibly be in her place.
"I don't know how I did it, but I did... I truly found someone that puts the pieces together. From the beginning, life has been nothing but a puzzle to me - a maze. I was always running around and trying to make sense of it all but I came to no avail. I hit a wall. Hard. I ran myself in to the ground and never found a way to climb back up. I was down there for a long time... But you were the ladder. You were the helping hand that pulled me out of the pit."
Burlnard paused and drifted his eyes downwards, breaking the connection.
"I can't believe I'm even saying all this..."
She would quickly bring her hand to push his chin back up, re-kindling their eyes.
"No, please... Please keep going."
With her words Burlnard would look back up, his thumb starting to caress her cheek.
"I just... Never thought anything like this would happen. You're my only one, and I mean it. I don't want to lose you."
The woman shook her head slowly, golden hair audibly brushing against the pillow.
"Oh, Burly... That'll never happen. What are you so afraid of?"
Her voice echoed off into the night's essence, dripping with sincerity as the scene around him started to change.
Burlnard looked around timidly as the window started to close and the aura began to fade. At the same time, everything in the room started to gradually drift away from him and he found himself running towards what he wanted back so badly, but before he knew it he hit a wall that excluded him from the scene.
No longer was he within his dreams, reminiscing upon a memory that was like a life-line. Instead he was in the same clothes he had been in for the past week, sleeping atop an uncomfortable hay-bail. His eyebrows furrowed, bringing his knees up towards his chest, wrapping his arms around them and digging his face against his knees.
Time to start another day.
