Masin found himself in Breeland. He left the Riddermark about a year ago and slowly wandered his way from the home of his birth to the home of his ancestors. Masin was happy to leave the Mark, the rolling hills and herds of horses never felt like home to him. An attack that left his farm burned and his family dead took the only things he loved away. His heart was filled with sadness and he could no longer stay in a place that reminded him daily of all he had lost.
The trip to Bree was a long slow journey filled with many adventures and mishaps. He had not planned to go to Bree, nor had made any plan at all, yet there he was, standing in front of The Prancing Pony. Inside he found a warm fire, a welcoming bar, and a tall mug of stout in his hand. He spent a few days getting to know some of the local folks, Barliman, of course first, then a woman who was very kind to him and had a familiar feel to her, Miss Addiela. Next was another woman and her young child Miss Linda and Aida.
Masin soon sought work and that brought him to Combe and the lumber yard. Back in Rohan he was a builder for his farm and others nearby. He made more friends at the lumber camp and became very close with a young lad named Jac Greenwood. Masin found out that the young man's father had been killed by a Blackwold, leaving the young fella to try and take care of his family. Mrs. Greenwood was due, with what will be the fourth child in the family, and Jac's brother and sister are younger and stayed around the house to help their mother. The Greenwood's took Masin in, and in return he helped them pay rent and keep food on the table for everyone. Masin eventually found out who the owner of the land was, and he purchased a few of the lots, including the one the Greenwood’s live on. Masin made plans to clear enough land for him to build a house or two, and he found another home in disrepair deep in the woods. He decided he would spend the winter repairing the older home and when spring arrives, he can start building.
His work, taking care of a few Blackwolds and helping out the Greenwood's kept him from going into Bree and The Pony as much as he wanted, but from time to time he found himself there looking for Miss Addie to share and a drink and a story by the fire. Through her he met his first elf, Xanderian and then his 2nd Ahmo. He now considers them all friends.
A few months after getting to know Miss Addie and seeing her when he could, along with his other friends, Miss Addie seemed to disappear. Masin is about to find out that the adventures and mishaps did not end when he reached Bree and the story of his missing friend will lead him down another unseen path.
To be continued......
