A Yule gift for Lumina
Carved from a rare red-brown wood from Rivendell, this songbird is made of two parts, body and legs, so that the bird can pivot. Hidden inside it are tiny silver bells which both serve as a counterweight, making it bobble when tapped, and let out a tiny melodious song while it does. It also has a carved base of local light-colored pine with beveled edges to sit on. Leoffrith carved it through the autumn and winter to be a gift for Lumina for Yule, and finally gave it to her during their visit to Winter-home.
Drawn with Derwent pencil brushes in Procreate on an iPad. See the full-sized image and the reference image. Note that I deliberately blurred the bird features some to reflect the sculptor not having the skill to depict a particular songbird species, and the legs are wrong since they also serve as the bird's pivot. But the reference was a bunting.
