The Personal Diary of Miss Jackilyn Blackburrow, Entry Thirty One

Well I never thought I'd see the day that I'd feel so tall!  Nor the day I'd travel this far. The Shire be as beautiful a place as I've ever seen, the folk on the most part friendly, well, those who be brave enough to trust a daft lass wearing an orc costume.  We found a celebration you see, Ath and me. I ain't certain what his costume were meant to be, he just looked normal, so part of me is thinking of getting one of them there hollowed out pumpkins to sit on his head, that'll be more in the spirit of a spooky holiday!   The food, the food! I ain't seen so much food nor so much stuffed in the mouths of tiny folk! It be delicious though and if I were to stay here, I'd soon be putting back all that weight I lost when I were sick. The ponies be cute..I'm tempted..but then that would be a cat, two goats, -and- a pony, and I were already thinking of getting a dog, one of them there shaggy ones that plod along and you can't see their eyes unless you tie up their fur with a bit of twine.

Trip has been so far, scary, funny, but most of all, needed.  I didn't realise how blimming stressful me life in Bree had been of late, and if nothing else, a hobbity celebration will rid a lass of all them worries!  Gone is all the drama surrounding Elias, and a breath of fresh air it be, even though I do hope he ain't choking on it. Maybe everything I told him and warned him about since I've known him is settling in that clever but also daft mind of his, doubt it, we be always confusing one another apparently, keeps us on our toes I suppose.. Ha! I be rhyming there!   I now be free of all the fawning and fighting, though I do miss me strawberry tea, so I'll have to get some somehow from him when we get back. Maybe Ath will get it for me on one of his visits, he seems to quite like Elias, not spoken an ill word or anything. When it comes to Ath, I think it be his age. He looks at a problem and sees both sides of it, the good and bad and -then- he might hit it with a blimming big sword maybe, oh I jest..he uses a spear.  Where were I. Oh! Tea!  I mean, I can get me tea aye, but, treading on the toes of ogling lasses, grouchy friends and dare I say patients? He does have them, honest! Well, it ain't of interest to me. let them feast on Elias, as long as he be happy! Happy..oooo there be that word again, it got me in a lot of trouble with him. He's made his bed and now he must lay in it,  I just wish it were not like watching a disaster from afar.

Still, I have bigger fish to fry now, so to speak. I am a traveler! An adventurer! I've even seen an orc, an actual, ugly orc! It scared the blimming life out of me too, froze me to the spot! I told Ath we should not go in that forest, what do we get? A ruddy orc!  There be me worrying about trees eating me, and instead it be some creature that stunk to the stars!  I couldn't move, breathe or blink, though Ath managed to get rid of the bugger, almost making me lose the contents of me stomach in the process. I mean, I tried not to look, I really did, but I couldn't help it.  -I've seen a ruddy orc!!!!!-, me?! Jackilyn Blackburrow, watcher of the slayer of orcs!

Me breathing were a bit short after the fright and the walk through that forest, but his horse, oh he be lovely, carried me the rest of the way into the shire. I've gone and snuck a couple of apples from the bobbing barrel, he deserves them!  Me ear, still a bit sore, but I'm looking after it, and who knows? Maybe by the time we get to the dwarves, there be a trader with pretty jewels and such. I have a tiny bit of coin on me, so it would make for a nice souvenir to get meself something a bit less enticing to Bailey, more modest for me ears, even if them earrings be one of me most prized possessions, like the flower, like the trinket. Every gift has had a story, and my heart has a place for every giver of them gifts.
