Event details:
Edhil (elves) of Imladris are invited to share this Rhîw (elven winter) Yule with us dressed in your best yule themed elven attire. There will be awards given for the best yule themed entertainment and attire. To add a touch of charm to the evening, Mithril Moon Fellowship will perform as our special musical guests. Rhîw is the season to gift in kindness to our fellow kin. We want to share our good fortune with you this season.
In addition to the Yule Feast and Music, we'll be watching for those edhil who show the most grace and spirit for the season in both appearance and demeanor. So find your most trusted tailor and have made the most beautiful outfit an edhil could wear for the rhîw season. Allow the quality of your heart to shine through stories, music, or poems to share. The edhil representing the most culturally appropriate and yule or winter themed art to share and display of grace throughout the evening will be rewarded with gifts.
This is special private formal affair for Elves who are currently in Imladris. Attendance is limited and some seating is reserved for special guests. LAST ROLEPLAYING NOTES
In addition to the above remember...
• Lore focused, immersion role-play environment.
(We are serious about it being a lore friendly and RP immersion environment. Those found to be intentionally disruptive to the RP environment will be asked to leave. However, that being said, please be polite and role with things. Not everyone knows every detail of lore/dates/names/language - thus, bombastic lore police are not welcome. As a public event, we are only looking for a good effort, not perfection. If you're extremely knowledgeable about the lore, share that knowledge in a way that is constructive, not rude, argumentative, challenging or pointedly questioning in your RP chat. Gentle nudges are fine, but ultimately strive to simply enjoy being with other RPers who share similar passions as you, not pretentiously trying to show off how much more you know than other people. It's annoying and scares off new roleplayers who are trying to learn. Show that you truly have the grace of the Eldar and let the little things go.)
• Music, stories, etc should fit the Middle-Earth setting.
(This really can't be said enough since I keep hearing people play things inappropriate to Middle-Earth on a regular basis. ABC files should not include popular/modern music. If we're humming the lyrics to "Baby's Got Back" while we're suppose to be in Middle-Earth, you're not getting it. Keep music within genre or don't play music. If you do this, you will be disqualified from prizes.)
• This event is not time/location displaced.
(As a general rule, this kinship doesn't do time/location displaced events. This means that if your character is reasonably in Rivendell around the time of the event, then it makes sense for you to be there. If your character is presently being RPed in Duillond, Lothlórien, or is more than a few days away from Rivendell then it does not make sense for your character to be there. However, if you use a little imagination there is flexibility to be found. For example, if you haven't RPed your character in a month or more then your character could be anywhere in the world.)
• All /say conversation is assumed to be Sindarin (elven language) unless otherwise noted.
(Please denote other languages such as [W] Westron, [Q] Quenya, [K] Khuzdul etc, if your character is speaking something other than Sindarin. Not every character speaks or understands every language, and shouldn't, especially if you're not an elf. Sometimes this makes RP interesting. If you're going to use real Sindarin from time to time, it is customary to include translation for those who many not know. Commonly used words may not require this, such as Mae g'ovannen, as a greeting or Quenya farewell, Namárië.)
• Be polite and respectful to the performance environment. Do not start playing music or reciting your poem, if you have not been called to the stage to do so.
