The first ( and so far, only ) time that Volundr stayed in an Inn of Men, he stayed away from the loud common room. He found the crackle of the fire and the smooth wooden chair more to his liking. He sat quietly and smoked his new pipe-- he had quickly become fond of the Halfings leaf since he had come to Bree.
