I am still in the tree.
It remains an uncomfortable and tenuous position but a far better one, I think, than down on the ground with that warg. I was correct in my assumption that it would not allow me much rest last night, but the beast itself seems to be feeling the effects of its own enthusiasm. It stopped scrabbling and pacing some time ago and now alternates between snoozing with its head on its paws and sitting on its haunches to look up at me with murder in its yellow eyes.
On the whole, I would find this to be a pleasant break from my constant walking had it not rained pretty much all day. It was a mixed blessing, really. On the one hand, I was able to replenish my waterskin by hanging it from a nearby branch to catch the droplets. On the other hand, it was heavy enough to soak through my Angmarim furs rendering me both soggy and all the more uncomfotable. It also made the branches slick which has done little to improve my safety here, plus it got the warg wet too so now I have to suffer the stench of wet dog.
I can see the mountains on the horizon when the cold breeze blows the leaves aside anyway. They look really rather uninviting but somehow stunningly beautiful with their bluish bodies and snowy crowns. I should be half-way to them by now, soon to make my way along the trecherous trails as I head, for want of a better word, home. Instead I sit in this tree, cold, marginally miserable but mostly just bored.
What I would not give for a warm fire and a comfortable seat right now! Perhaps a nice hot cup of a tea and a slice of cake as well. I can just imagine myself in the Pony, laughing with Blodwynn and inevitably putting my dainty foot in my mouth by saying completely the wrong thing yet again. Those were much simpler days, happier days, and I miss them.
Reality bites, though, and so shall that furball of a monster should I let it. Given that I rather need my legs to continue along my path, I suppose I have little choice but to wait out this inconvenience. With a brush put through its fur and maybe a nice bow about its neck, it could have been such a handsome critter. I doubt it would make for a good house-pet, however.
