The chains that bind

He could almost hear the rattle as he swung the hammer over and over, the chains that held his soul, he knew he was not...could not be free until he broke them, but he had yet to do so, feelings it seemed, just made things more complicated.

Narys, a tleast things with her had been settled and they understood one another.

Theo, the poor woman he had been cruel to, with out realizing it.

Sareva, The tailor, the one he went to when he'd not know what to do with himself, and showed his inner most feelings to, the one who knew the most about his past, and could still look him in the eyes.

Sareva had been right when she said he hadn't left the cage. With a snarl, he brought the hammer down again, watching the Axe slowly take shape.

"I need to escape this town...soon, go to the north, the forests where I used to hunt, escape for awhile and clear my head, this town....why does it do this to everyone, People lie to one another, lay with those they shouldn't, and hurt those they care for because in the end they were just fools, who stopped thinking things through to the end."

"I can't do that. but I must find a purpose...and break the chains, otherwise I'll never be truly happy...maybe its time to set my sword down for good."

Those who lived near his shop probably thought the man mad as he threw his head back, laughing at the idea.

He could never put a blade down, he would never put it down, better to die with it in his hand then on a bed as an old man, surrounded by family, he'd had a family once. and he could still hear their final moments when he closed his eyes, smell the smoke and scent of cooked meat, feel the heat of the flame.

"I am what I have always been, a killer, I'll never not be one, better to accept that now, and find a fight worth fighting."
