Parf o ind - Gatherings

I decided to partake in the Gathering at the Hall of Fire, offer myself some entertainment, dancing and some wine. Indeed, the wine was as fine as ever, but alas, I must confess my disappointment when I first arrived, no music, no dancing, mostly people, split up in groups discussing this and that. I noticed that several of them were in uniform, many a council is dwelling in Imladris this day and the topic of discussion amongst them, I can but guess, was that of the threats from the East, the state of Mirkwood, the Shadows in the North.. Yes, it disappointed me, no dancing.. The evening was not in vain though for it gave me the chance to observe these councils, these Edhil and Ellith that so freely seem to head out in battles and fight against the darkness that is Sauron and Morgoth. All honour to them, who am I to give them anything else but credit for their efforts? Amongst the crowds of Elves I found a strange pair, a Man and a Dwarf, the latter telling stories of old.. I never asked for their purpose being there, and I cannot claim I was particularly interested in the reason why either. Speaking to them was an Edhel, fair was his skin and the gaze of his eyes made me curious, for they shone of sorrow, it made me curious, but no, it was not my place to ask. He was kind enough to play some songs on harp, that after I told them my disappointment due to the lack of music and dancing. Inspite his modesty, I must say he had a talent with the music, enhancing the sorrow to his features. I wonder what hides behind those eyes of his.. I guess we all have our own sorrows, burdens and thoughts.. All in all, it became a most pleasant evening in the end. I shall rest my quill now, a new day awaits.
