Captain's Quick Report: The Hope. Balrog's Footfall on Laurelin

It is wondrous in which how diverse that which we call music can sound to the ears, there certainly is more than meets the eye in our world, and today’s performance by the The HOPE musicians demonstrates this clearly!  Hoho!

With early notice around Bree posted about the Bree Festival Grounds being host for what was called then the ‘Balrog’s Footfall’ performance, it was curious to attend, in the flesh, towards those northern fields far from town, and partake as audience in what transpired just hours ago.

By the time my arrival was had, at least a first few songs had already begun, but perhaps in my previous writings I had thought it was the wonderful Polnolunie performing again, simply under a different name – but in fact it was not; four Dwarves and three Halflings made up this band today.  All Little Folk!  ( Though documentation elsewhere suggests others of the Tall persuasion may be involved also! )

Many in the audience having come out this day made for quite the large number of spectators.  Some were sitting upon the grass and stone surfaces nearby, many others dancing from start to end.  Fireworks and cheers were frequent, and it was a most noisily jolly time.

I must admit, some of the lyrics and calls from both band and audience members sometimes spoke of words that seemed most strange to hear uttered in combination; I must assume they were speaking of things from very far away lands indeed, for Iron Maidens and Pumpkinheads sound like most impossible things to truly exist in our own lands here!  Though as always, I paid lesser attention to such hiccups in my thoughts – for there was just something so outstanding and fine about the music and songs themselves that drew a most delightful enjoyment until the very end!

But time is short these days, and as I departed back for the horses that would lead back to Bree-town, I spotted what looked like another group of musicians I recognize as the ‘Harlequin’ Trio walking up to the stage – but there was sadly no opportunity for me to stay further this time to listen to perhaps that bonus performance; for this final week or two of the Month there are major events scheduled that I must prepare for.

The gossip of Hobbits embarking to root out ‘owlfestation’ through musical rehearsal by the Brandy Badgers over in Stock sounds to be quite intriguing, for instance.  ( Though it is advised to stand towards the back of the crowd if you are able to make the journey to visit as a Tall Folk; we may collapse from traveling exhaustion upon the poor Hobbits and Dwarves up front if we stand too near!  Best be safe and not block the view, nor squash the view, of those Little Folk!  Hoho! ).  The Bird and Baby Yard Party has invited the Shire Tramps for this coming week’s occasion in far Michel Delving, an even farther travel than where Stock lies, and even more beyond that town hub of Hobbit-folk is the outlying village of Oldfurlong to the south – where the massive celebration and festival of music known as the ‘Forest of OAKS 2’ is going to be a full week from today!  Articles in the Bramblebury Gazette and other places where news of major events are announced throughout Middle-Earth both have published details of what to expect.

These are just some of the fine occasions that my busy schedule has managed to fit in, and I must start packing immediately back at the office.  It shall be quite the dazzling week of traveling on business as a representative of the Bree Captain’s Guild, that is to be sure! Hohoho!

P.S.

Reports indicate that in the Shire-bounds, where Hobbits dwell in large number among their own kind and communities in lively culture, there are celebrations happening for a beloved Green Dragon Friday 8th Anniversary, and also upcoming ‘Burrow-crawls’ in which it sounds like tours of popular homesteads such as Songburrow will be had by the Hobbit denizens there.  If successful, perhaps other homestead communities will pick-up the idea as well.

On the most farthest horizon at this time, the most early word I have heard about Spring Festival activities being had by the Free Peoples will not be until quite later into the first week of the next coming Month.

(( Disclaimer: Hello folks, I'd like to caution you that taking a look at the embedded slideshow coming up below will likely not go too well if your in a hurry, and hoping to just get a 'general gander' at what the event was like.  The 'Overview Collection' above is more suited for that!

Viewing the album embedded below is more geared for those folks looking to get a /slightly/ more play-by-play spirit of how things unfolded.  In fact, I only recommend having a browse through if for some reason, you have an urge to well... just look at a lot and lot of screenshots -- many more of the shot angles/perspectives being repeated in other screenshots but at different times during the event, etc!  Thanks for reading. ))
