Here is a song I wrote for our dear Mayor. I performed it once at the Green Dragon too. But as the Mayor himself wasn't there, I decided to put it up there on the noticeboard! After hearing this tune, maybe he could find the inspiration to finally squash those ancient bugs that bother some of us. I am sure he is capable of doing that, after he has dealt which his luncheon that is! *grins*
Here are the lyrics:
In the town of Michel Delving
Lives a hobbit known to all
He is Mayor Whitfoot
Hungry, plump and small
But some things he could do better
And hence I wrote this song
For there are so many things that
We cannot bear for long
So hear my plea, please hear my plea
You're town's a mess, it's like a jest
Oh can't you see?
People just grumble night and day
Only the sky will hear us pray
Listen this song, it's pretty long
But the tune's pretty sweet!
There is a nasty bug that
Crawls straight into your ear
It can make you deaflike
Some folks you cannot hear
You have to run through people
To hear what they say
That could really upset someone
So please take that bug away!
So hear my plea, please hear my plea
Silence is scary, not ordinary
It cannot be!
Could you kill that deafening bug
With your sturdy breakfast mug
That'd be neat, have our ears freed
From nasty bugs!
What about storms?
They come unnoticed, leave all demolished
After those thrills!
We get stuck in soggy mud,
Can't find berries in the flood
Warn us in advance and give us a chance
To live in peace
And in my dress, there lives a bug
That bothers me when I purchase stuff
When I go and buy me a pie,
It wakes up and it bites!
And all those branches that grow too low
May knock out people, both big and small
Maybe you could cut them away
Instead of eating pureé?
So hear my plea, please hear my plea
Make these things better, be a pacesetter
That would be sweet!
Here is some homework just for you
A long list of things to do
And after your done, we'll have more fun
And party on!
But I'm not cruel: I am grateful!
You've succeeded and even completed
Some grand things
You let Sandson's chucks run free
You gave Bingo chance to flee
From his neighboors and Shire boredom
And possibly me...
So hear my plea, please hear my plea
It would be sweet!
I'd bake you some pies, cook bacon and fries
Just name your order, I'll fill up your larder
With tastiest foods, veggies and goods
Just hear my plea!
((Best sung to this merry tune here.))
