The Welcomed Burden

The two figures stood together within the vast halls of the keep. Their voices resounding off the walls in with a soft tone as they seemed to be discussing something between the two.

"Cynraede, I understand what this means but you cannot just leave. You do not even know if she is alive let alone where she was last seen." Cerythael looked to his friend, shaking his head and looking rather shocked at him.

"And tell me Cerythael, when you were denied to see your family in Mirkwood what did you do? Did you sit idly by while you knew things of the dark marched against them, did you just sit in the halls of the keep and dream one day of seeing them again without little action upon your part?" Cynraede asked, his gaze not forlorn nor worried but what would seem as determination.

Cerythael placed his arms upon Cynraede's shoulders and shook his head. "I did what I had to do to keep them safe as well as those who also depended on me. I know you love her, I know the pain that swells within your heart. If you believe she is alive then hold that close, let it kindle your heart and give life to the fire that keeps your mind focused. There is nothing more powerful, nothing stronger in this world than a man with something to lose. For now, it is this young hunters time to take this place. It will be he, who is the watching shadow. For I fear much is rising, and I believe we will be needed elsewhere." he spoke in a firm tone, looking towards his young friends eyes and trying to strengthen his resolve.

The two nodded before looking to the  young man that walked down the halls. Pausing to kneel before them and draw his cowl back.

"I am rested and ready to begin, my tests await me." Pellam lowered his head and remained knelt upon one knee.

"You had very seriously wounded youngling, are you sure?" Cerythael asked Pellam with a raised brow, looking over him carefully.

Cynraede and Cerythael nodded  before Cynraede walked to him and removed a blackened steel blade etched with seven stars along the blade and set with seven cyrstals set upon the hilt. Placing the tip upon the stone before Pellam. "You will repeat after me and let these words fill your heart."

Cynraede lowered his head and spoke aloud. "I, Pellam. Son of Arnor do take up arms against the evils of this world. For those who stand behing me, I give them protection. For those who stand beside me, I shall give them my respect. For those who stand against me, I shall give them no mercy. Let them fear my name, let them know my steel and let me make them fear the night. For this is my oath, and I shall keep it for all my days."

Pellam nodded and and bowed his head once more. "I, Pellam. Son of Arnor do take up arms against the evils of this world. For those who stand behing me, I give them protection. For those who stand beside me, I shall give them my respect. For those who stand against me, I shall give them no mercy. Let them fear my name, let them know my steel and let me make them fear the night. For this is my oath, and I shall keep it for all my days." He replied with a strong tone and couldn't help but smile.

Cerythael smiled brightly and raised a brow. "The rise, son of the night and take your place among us."
