Dear Viljawyn,
If you are reading this, then the silver pieces and trust I gave to some merchants in Bree has not been in vain!
Thank you so much for the letters you sent to Miss Ellae and me. I am so glad you made the long trip home safely and that you have found some happiness in the land of our birth. I hope to see the Maerc again, as you know, but it will not be anytime soon.
Rickstan invested in a new place for us to call home. The house is much larger than the small one I bought, with plenty of land and a view over a small lake.
We are currently developing it into a farmstead and I have some chickens and a few sheep already. Rick has focused on the land, planting grain and vegetables.
We recently took some time away from Bree to spend time together and get refreshed - I had to make Mr Butterbur a few baskets of muffins in order for him to let me be away from the inn for several weeks!
Rick had been speaking to Ameren regarding her travels and she said we should see the beautiful lake and scenery of a place called Evendim - do you know of it?
Well, we loaded our horses and headed west into the Shire and then north towards Evendim. I have never travelled far west of Bree, so it was very exciting! Although most hobbits wanted to avoid us 'strangers' one was particularly friendly and joined us for breakfast in a nice inn. After many days riding, we came to Evendim and, as Miss Ameren had said, the place was wonderful. Some old magnificent ruins, a very tall statue, beautiful green trees and a lake of clear water.
We camped near the lakeside and spent many days exploring and enjoying the surroundings.
Perhaps the biggest joy of the trip was finding out I am with child! I'd been feeling unwell for several days and very sensitive to certain smells, some making me feel queasy.I decided to visit a healer and she confirmed I was pregnant!
Rick and I are delighted. I swear Rick couldn't stop grinning for days!
Now, I am back working at the Pony and Rick and his brother have decided to start building a windmill at our farmstead so we can mill grain.
My heart is set on setting up the farmstead and our future, whilst I still have the energy to do so. That means I will have to consider leaving the Pony...and I am sure Mr Butterbur will be sad to see me go.
I just need to pluck up the courage to break the news to him.
Keep well, Viljawyn, I will write again soon!
Best Wishes,
Cedwyn
