So it was that one day, when Fengdiel just had turned sixteen that her fiancé came for a visit, she met him by the gate to her fathers farm, and gave him a hug, she did not care if the men and farm hands saw them, they all knew she had this man already, her father, Randwulf stood and watched them two by the gate and smiled gently to his wife Hrodwyn "They will make a good wife and husband one day them two" he said to his wife.
Theodulf, as the young man's name was wraps his arms around Fengdiel and hoisted her into the air and gave her the same kind of hug "Not everyday your love celebrates her sixeenth birthday is it?" he said to her as he gave her a soft kiss, a kiss that made her blush slightly "No, once a life time silly.." she replied and they laughed togehter, grabbing his hand she began to pull him with her up the path to the house where her parents stood on the porch to the house. They laughed and talked low to each other as they walked and the men and farm hands waved to her, after all they all loved her for she was a free spirit that did what she wanted, riding all days on her pony but she longed to have her own horse. Little did she know that in the stable her father had a surprise for her.
They reached the house and Theodulf greeted both Randwulf and Hrodwyn "Westu Randulf Hal! Westu Hrodwyn Hal" it help of course to have the daughter of a respected man in the Rohirrim telling him what to say so he would not seem less, after all he was from Harwick in the Norcrofts. "Westu Theodulf Hal!" it was Randulf who greeted him with his deep voice "Westu Theodulf Hal!" that was the same sweet voice as Fengdiel that greeted him next with the same warm smile, Hrodwyn. Not hard to see where Feng gets it from he thought for himself. "Father..be nice to him he is after all the one you gave a promise to have my hand and you know how easy you can scare him. Fengdiel said with a smile to her father who started to laugh "I know very well Fengdiel, he is your fiancé yes but he better know not to break his words." Randulf said as he laughed, knowing that Teodulf cared much about Fengdiel. "Father can I borrow your horse today? I dont want to ride on my pony and I have already saddled him as well, please?" Fengdiel asked her father, knowing his reply "Fengdiel..you know what I have said, he is my horse and he will only let me ride him, but I have something I wish to show you of you all followed me to the stable. Randulf said as he began to walk towards the stable.
Randulf opened up the stable and there.. in the stable stood a beautiful grey steed, saddled and ready to go. "He is all yours Fengdiel..His name is Arnvidar. He is a war steed Fengdiel, one of the ones the rohirrim rides. Happy birthday sweetheart." Randulf said and Fengdiel did not know where to run, or what to do but she threw herself around her fathers neck "Oh father thank you..thank you thank you!" she said muffled by his neck but he heard it and smiled, hugging her back "All the best for you my beloved daughter." her father replied. Fengdiel hugged her mother as well and thanked her and threw herself up in the saddle of Arnvidar and Theodulf could not do anything else but follow her on his own horse, having given Randulf a nod meaning that he would take care of Fengdiel while they were out.
Spurring Arnvidar on, faster and faster he galloped with Fengdiel on his back, cheering as she rode on with Theodulf behind her trying to keep up with her. After a while they came to the Entwade, there they found a nice place off eyes from anyone else and they tied their horses up and sat down and had a picnic, she leaning on his shoulder, resting her head on his, he holding her hand as they sat there and talked "I would build us a good house where we could raise a family, you and I, you as my wife Fengdiel.." Theodwulf said to her as the sun were setting by the horizon "Theo..it sounds so good but can we not wait a year or two? I dont mean to spoil the dream we both share but are we still not too young?" Fengdiel asked Theodulf who in his turn smiled at her and shook his head and kissed her with passion and she could not do anything else than to melt away into the kiss with him. They left the place by the Entwash not long after and were headed home when Theodulf pointed at a barn "Feng dear..come with me.." Fengdiel looked at him but never questioned him and followed him and they made they way to the barn and jumped of their horses.
They climbed up to the hayloft . Up there Theodulf pulled her close and she did not resist at all, she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him with her down into the hay, as she did his hand found its way in under her shirt, she felt his hand on her skin and gasped slightly "Are we sure about this?" she asked and he nodded so she let go of everything that could hold her back and let him unbutton her shirt as she did the same to his. Feeling his warm body without clothes against hers gave her a slight shiver but she loved every moment, every touch from him, every movement they shared there in the hay without their clothes. She gave herself to him there in the barn and he made her his. She did not feel any shame as they rode back home, glancing at him and smiling to him where he rode next to her. Coming up on the hill not from the farm they both saw fire and there on the ground outside the house Randulf fought with his men against Dunlenders.
This is the story that preludes Fengdiels move to Snowbourn, giving anyone an insight to how she came to move away and lose Theodulf for a long time.
