The Odd Voice

—What do you see, Talgoy? —An odd voice speaks. Its voice doesn’t seems human, being too deep and with a raspy voice. After some seconds, Talgoy responds with a laconic voice.

—Nothing.

—Exactly... but that nothing is... dark, or bright? —The voice slowly turns closer and louder to Talgoy, which his eyes remains are closed as his face shows pain with his sad smile, his brows raising and his face turning to a expression of sadness.

—I-Is... dark... —Talgoy says while he covers both eyes with his hands.

—Darkness... exactly. Is quite... silent, steady... peacefully.

—Ye-yeah, ve-very peaceful —Talgoy nods as he curls himself more.

—Are you afraid? —The odd voice suddenly shouts, making Tal jump scare as he bit his lower lip.

—N-n-no... I-I mean —Talgoy got interrupted as a cold wind starts to blow to his back, too cold and heavy that immediately makes him move, hiding his face on his arms as he roll around the dark. He starts to feel that cold spreading his arms, his legs, his face, shouting of pain as he slightly opened his right eye, looking the face of something so horrid that he immediately closed his eyes, shaking in fear, but the image slowly started to take place on his mind as he started to yell in true fear. It was a head, a rotten human head that its skin was worn out, showing bones and putrefied meat hanging from his cheeks and mouth, even showing skinless teeth, but the worst part was its eyes... or I mean it empty eyes sockets, showing only darkness, showing how odd and disturbing and fearful was its nature: To always fight, to always see, to never rest, to never live...

—Is that what you want, Talgoy? —The odd voice told with a loud and reverberating voice, showing a feeling of dominance against the still weak Talgoy— No, It doesn’t! You don’t have to fight! You don’t have to feel pain for others! Is that what you want? Then a destiny worse than death you will find.

—N-No! Yo-you are lying! —Talgoy shouted while he was shaking of fear, covering his face with both hands and eyes closed.

—Then what did you see, little hunter? What did you see in Kingsfell? These tortured souls, all of them to obey its lord... You are more than a normal guy and you know. You are the hunter of Bree! Not of Kingsfell, Not of the Shire or not even of Thorin’s Hall!

—Shut up! —Talgoy cried, shouting of pain.

—No, YOU SHUT UP! —The odd voice shouted, it voice was so involving and threatening that it was like omnipresence — You shouldn’t had to be here, but is too late just by your stupidity! But I can give you a solution... darkness... quiet and peaceful darkness. Come on! Take your dagger and cut your throat! Take your dagger and stab it on your heart! You don’t have to suffer more! You only have to embrace darkness!

The gruesome sound of the voice rumbling Talgoy’s ears started to penetrate even deeper to his same soul. His face started to deform in a gruesome way, like a vortex that was consuming his will, his will to fight or to live. The sound of blades clashing, the roaring of wargs, orcs, various animals, the cry of a child, the break of bones, too much sound, the thousand of voices shouting and laughing on his head as he only wanted peace, only wanted to make this all over and he took his knife and he aimed to his neck and he’s shaking and he’s shaking and he’s crying and he’s crying and then only silence

Silence

Silence, then light. A shiny light appears crossing his eyelids, doing an effort to filter as light as possible, but the light is too strong and even afraid Talgoy feel curiosity of see what was the source of such light. He opens his eyes and looked to blue orbs... two blue orbs that turns into eyes, the eyes staring at Talgoy. He then felt something that he forgot decades ago..  or just minutes, but on his mind it was like an eternity: He felt safe, felt in home, in peace... fulfilled in hope.

The shiny eyes started to disappear, and Talgoy feel fear again... the darkness started to wrap him again as the sound of that odd voice started to appear worse than always... but inside him, inside his deep soul, these two shiny blue orbs remains shining... Giving him tranquility on his mind and his soul... giving him hope.
