Adventures of Chaney Oakleaf Book3 Part8

The Shattering of a Dawn(er) Part 2

Fiontann showed no emotion, infact he just seemed to stand at the bottom of the bed. As if this woman meant nothing to him. Chaney would extend her arms out as if to beckon him to her, and could not understand why he didn’t reply in kind.

She murmured to him to come close, so she could feel the touch of his hand, feel his warm body. He did move closer, and knelt down at her side stroking her cheek with his hand briefly. This only caused pain and so he would quickly remove his hand. Chaney would find it a struggle to talk, but ask nonetheless the questions she had for him.

She would ask of Fiontann, where had he been? Whey had he not returned with the rest of the Dawn? Why wasn’t he at her rescue leading from the front as Eroforth had so gallantly done? If he had been delayed, why hadnt he sent word?

The answers Chaney would receive in return did not marry up to her own thoughts. Fiontann had returned, and so why hadn’t he seeked her out? He thought that Chaney had left her when she had gone missing for a long time. So why had he not sought out to find her and ask why if this was the case. She had explained to him that she needed to settle an old score, and the time had come for her to do so.

Chaney was starting to feel puzzled, how he could be this vague, so cold. It was then her world would be shattered forever. In such a weakened state, physically and mentally, he would finally tell her the truth. The truth being that he was to leave Bree for good, he had set up a company of his own way out to the west. That he was never returning, and……………………………that there was another woman………………….another woman now in his life……………………………………………….

Chaney all of a sudden felt the life drain from her already broken body. She was in utter bewilderment, speechless. Had she heard the man right? Was it but a dream? She pinched herself, only to feel agonizing pain. This was no dream. All kind of thoughts would now start to invade her mind. How could this man, whom only months previously shared his house with her, no they did not consummate any kind of relationship, but they had become very close sexually. How could he now, of all times, tell her this?

Her thoughts would drift back to a time when she was young, a time when she viewed all men as callous, lying, bastards. That’s what this man was, he was a callous, lying, bastard. He were no different to any other man. The sudden feeling of humiliation was now welling in side of her. How could she allow herself to get so close to a man only to be treated like a piece of meat and thrown out to the dogs?

Fiontann had now offered a liquid remedy to her mouth, but she smashed it out of his hand with a snarl. She somehow found the strength to rise from the bed. The pain as if by magic had relented and was now replaced by anger, humiliation, and a sudden desire to kill this man.

Fiontann backed away clearly seeing this woman’s rage. Chaney grabbed for the nearest thing, an ornament which was sat upon the bedside table and threw it at him. He would duck down to narrowly miss being hit full on by this projectile.

By now Chaney was wild, confused, and utterly broken that the man she loved was leaving her, was never coming back, but most of all was and more than likely had been cheating on her all this time. Men she would think, they were nothing but pigs whom treated women like inferior meat.

At this point Taala would step into the fray holding a wild, and kicking Chaney at bay, whilst Eroforth would advise that Fiontann leave, and leave quickly before blood was spilt that evening. This he would do, leave as quickly as he had arrived. The only thing he would hear would be Chaney roaring the words………………. “ If I so much as see you, Ill cut your throat as look at you “

A wild feral look in her eyes would be the last Fiontann would see of the woman he had just deserted……………
