Rest and Recuperation
The journey home was uneventful. Chaney would be placed upon a makeshift comfortable bed within the confines of a wooden cart. This would be drawn by Oxlaide upon a large muscular horse. The rest of the company would ride, single file close by. Eroforth would lead, followed by Taala, and Brammy would bring up the rear also taking the reins of Oxlaide’s mount.
Once at the Dawnhall the company would see to their respective mounts, ensuring they were properly fed, watered, and bedded down before retiring to the inner hall. Taala would aid Oxlaide, travelling the short distance to her house, so as to set up home, or home as it would become for the immediate future in any case, for Chaney.
Taala thanked Ox for his efforts, he was after all, a newcomer to the Dawn. Taala said that in time, Chaney would come to realise the deeds that they had all carried out to save her. Chaney, although she did not know it yet nor indeed thought of it yet, would come to find a new found respect for those men that evening. As it was, however, this was going to be a long road to recovery.
It would be Taala, mainly whom would care for Chaney in the next few days, although on occasions Neyaa, and Eroforth would stop by. Chaney of course would not know of this. Her immediate recovery at the very best was made up of drifting in and out of consciousness, and soothing remedies to aid her.
All the while though Chaney would have a constant, gnawing thought within her mind. Where indeed was the so called master of the company? Where was Fiontann Berengar?
Time would soon tell, however, as an ever approaching fateful day would soon be upon her. A day that would forever change her opinion of him. A day that would turn love into hate.
A day that would shatter a Dawn………
