The Journey to Khazad-dûm, part 2.

The Journey to Khazad-dûm, part 2.

Khazad-dûm, long lost. Balin went there with an expedition, to reclaim it for the Dwarves. No words have been heard from Balin and his expedition in a long time. And now, it is finally decided to send a new expedition there. I, Dhordur Stonebeard, Troll Slayer, son of Ghord Stonebeard is joining this new expedition. I am hopeful of it, this will succeed, we will find Balin or what that remains of his expedition and reclaim Khazad-dûm for the Dwarves!

Bree-lands

''The Bree-lands, awful lands, full with bandits in every corner, just waiting for anything to prey on. We are going to set off over the bridge soon. We will head east, passing Buckland and the southern Bree-fields. Hopefully without any trouble at all. But no one never really knows when it comes to the Bree-lands. Some Men sees a Dwarrow caravan as a big chest full with gold and silver. Bah, if they even try we will put them down quick and easy.'' - out take from the diary ''Expedition of Khazad-dûm'' by Dhordur Stonebeard, Troll Slayer.

They packed together their camp outside Stock at dawn and set out again. They headed east, passing Buckland and kept going east towards Bree. The Old Forest next to the road stood quiet, they kept their eyes on it, trying to spot if anyone was there to attack them. You never knew in Bree-lands. When they almost were at the end of the forest they indeed were attacked, However the bandits was easy repelled and they could continue on their journey.

They were now just south of the Southern Bree-fields, now they had scouts in front of them, just in case another ambush would happen. Nothing more happened and they arrived at Bree, there they went past it and set up camp just outside the southern Bree gate. Some of the Dwarves went into town and traded, some went to the Prancing Pony to drink some Ale and listen in on news about their road ahead.

Around lunch time after they had their lunch they set off again, now they headed south along the road leading towards the Lone-lands. As they passed through the south Chetwood they were ambushed again, this time one of the Dwarves were killed, old Bol. But they repelled the attacker again after that. They put old Bol up on one of the carts that they emptied and sent it with two Dwarves back towards Thorin's Hall.

They passed by the Midgewater Marsh, a foul place, full with all kinds of bugs and some Goblins even as they could spot some of their camps further into the Marsh. Soon they would come into the Lone-lands and there by the Forsaken Inn they would set up camp for the night.

Lone-lands

They went over the border between the Bree-lands and the Lone-lands. They stopped by the Forsaken Inn and set up camp for the night. Dhordur went into the Inn and had a few ales, it was some shady people inside the inn, nothing he thought too much about.

''Poor old grumpy Bol, he have not set his foot outside Thorin's Hall for years and when he finally do he gets to meet Mahal. The bandits surprised us in the southern Chetwood. We did not think they would try again, we were wrong. Now we have arrived at the Forsaken Inn, foul place as well and no fine sight to look upon. Here in the Lone-lands we have to be more wary of the surroundings as it's infested with Goblins, Orcs and other creatures that would not think twice before attacking. This Inn have seen many attacks, you can see that on it. I pray to Mahal to guide us through and keep us safe. It will be even worse in the Trollshaws.'' - out take from the diary ''Expedition of Khazad-dûm'' by Dhordur Stonebeard, Troll Slayer.

They had guards over the night, in case they would get attacked during the night. The Lone-lands is infested with Goblins, Orcs and other creatures, they had to be more wary now. There had even be rumors about Troll sights near Harloeg.

In the dawn they got ready and set off again, going east towards the Trollshaws. They passed by the Weather hills, they did not wander off from the road as that would probably make them an easier target. They managed to get to Ost Guruth without any attacks, but yes it was day so the Goblins and Orcs probably would not come out to attack. They set up a little camp outside Ost Guruth and had their lunch, there they stayed for a long time and eventually they packed up and set off towards the last bridge and the Trollshaws. Next camp would be just on the other side of the bridge, for the night. They arrived at the bridge and headed over it, not any sights of any attackers, but they still stayed wary.

More will come in next story.
