The rain beats on my window pane
Sounding of sleep and comfort
But if I sleep I will dream
Of a land far away
There the clouds will kiss the hills
Golden with their harvest
And streams will shine
Bright like fire
That gives light unto the darkness
The trees will dot the pretty fields
And give pause to golden waves
And in turn kiss the clouds above
With their verdant manes
Peace will reign above it all
Only breezes stir the air
Not bird, nor bee will you find
Humming in the silence there
And if I sleep, I will dream
Of this land so far away
And if I dream my pretty dream
I won't ever want to wake
So the rain beats on the panes
And sounds of sleep and comfort
Leaving me with my dreams
Of my home so far away.
(This is my own work.)
