Dear Marlyn
Whilst you and I have never been acquainted in person, Saeldith holds you in the highest esteem. I write to you now to thank you for your letter and the interesting news it contains - it is always good to hear of the lands we have left behind.
We completely agree that making use of the house in our absence would be valuable and helpful to the people of Bree-land. However, we would prefer to lay down some rules for any such plans:
- Any who wish to join a renewed House Thorongial, recognise that Lady Saeldith and myself are still heads of the household and therefore remain in authority.
- In accordance with this, we will appoint stewards to care for the house and people in our place, until such a time that we may return. These people (including yourself) should be respected at all times.
- Anyone who seeks aid, or has nowhere else to go, shall be welcomed into the house if they desire. Kindness and shelter are the foundations of House Thorongial.
- Lastly, all property within and including the house itself belongs to Lady Saeldith (and myself by marriage). If any theft or damage was to occur, those responsible should swiftly receive the consequences appropriate to their actions.
I hope this letter finds you in good time. If you need further advice, we will be happy to oblige.
Signed,
Duarion Thorongial
Saeldith Thorongial
