No Regrets

It had all started with a letter.

Rothrian had spent the afternoon and evening in the Pony, drinking and catching up with friends. The place having its usual warm and busy feel to it, the laughter and song so at odds with the darkness approaching. But it was comforting and a place to recharge and gain hope. The evening was no different from usual, her friend entertaining them with songs picked up from their travels and there were men walking around trying to use the size of their wallets to charm women. But she'd felt ill at ease, something in her mind that she couldn't shake so she'd left the Pony for some fresh air before her unease affected her friends.

She sat outside for a while, admiring the stars and finishing her ale. Just as she had started to head back inside, she'd heard a noise and turned to see a hawk fly towards her, a familiar green ribbon wrapped around the letter in its claws. Frowning she'd let it land on her arm where she removed the letter and untied it, as the hawk climbed onto a perch nearby. The letter was from Sigfread, telling of his mission to Annuminas to reclaim it from the Angmarim with his Kin and his belief that he would not return from his journey. He thanked her for her kindness, friendship and wished her a happy future. He asked only one thing- that she protect Rhia in his place as he would not be able to do so. He'd signed off as Rogue. Suprised, she'd stood turning his words over in her head. Each time getting more and more irritated with Sigfread as well as worried- though she'd focused on the irritation. The man had been acting suspiciously recently, he'd always had a dramatic streak and was at times a little distant but he'd been a more distant and seemed to almost cutting himself off from everyone.  She'd wondered what he'd been planning and now she knew.

This was not acceptable.

His Kin needed all the help they could get if they wanted to retake Annuminas. She'd bet anything the daft man hadn't even asked his friends for aid. She'd lost too many friends and she wasn't about to let another go without helping in anyway possible. Her wounds were mostly healed from her last journey and Rhias safety at present was acceptable- the company and Altheric would be able to handle anything that threatened her. A brief thought flashed through her head about gathering the company also to aid him but she dismissed it thinking of the time it would take to bring them together and she didnt have enough time.

She hastily scribbles a note to Sigfread and a another to Rhia and Altheric, letting them know of her plans. Then, calling Etain (her mount), she rode through the night making camp outside near the entrance to Annuminas where she caught a few hours sleep

Rising she enters the city, avoiding main patrols and takes out the smaller groups quietly until she stumbles into a camp and has to hide behind a column. She studies the patrol of the Angamarim spotting opportunities for her to sneak through.

Unfortunately the one she chooses is the one a scout decides to appear and spots her.

Fuck stealthy.

She roars and takes out the scout before he finishes the alarm and grins at the Angmarim that approach, the four of them looking for any companions. She takes three of them out easily, the other runs to gather more men. He returns looking smug, she winks pointing her sword at him and he pales slightly unnerved by her confidence. A second later a knife is buried in his forehead and he goes down. Men continue to come at her and the floor becomes sticky with their blood. It seems like shes going to be alright until she takes an arrow bolt in the shoulder and she pauses before she growls at them fighting anew. But she is too confident, too sure and her boot slides in the blood beneath her foot causing her to fall. In that instant she is surrounded and she fails to see the blow she takes to the head. Though as the ground and darkness come to swallow her up all she can think is however daft Sigfread might have been to not to ask for help, she had been so foolish to come alone with no one to protect her back.

.....Damn

____________

Talking, Angmarim, she thinks though she can't hear what they say and she drifts in and out. Darkness, screams and someone calls her name but she cant focus on them and unconsciousness forces her under again.

__________

She awakens when the arrow head is pulled from her shoulder, yelling, her eyes blurry and she struggles to see in front of her. She growls as she sees a person over her and throws a punch, noticing her state of undress as she does so. She curses and calls out insulting them as she attempts to pull herself backwards, ignoring the pain in her shoulder. Its not until a familiar voice calls to her that she realizes she is no longer with the Angmarim and grins at Sigfread and apologizes to the healer- letting her attend to her injuries.

Her armor is unfortunately ruined and she has to find something new. She speaks with Sig and his Kin, promising her aid.

She is stuck in Annuminas now but she doesn't regret what she has done. If she can help she will do so and bring them all home in one piece. Even if she isn't herself.
