Adventures of Chaney Oakleaf Book2 Part6

Drowning the Sorrows

As usual the Inn would be full of locals, travelers, and on that night one or two more than normal of the Guard. This Chaney would notice right away, however, she didn’t care, she were in no mood.

She strode over to the counter and practically slung coin at Barliman, demanding two of his finest ales right away.

After what seemed like an age, she was very impatient that evening, she finally grabbed her ale and shifted round to ‘her’ chair as she now liked to call it.

Chaney would drink more than normal that evening, she knew what Fiontann had said to her earlier, how it had made her feel. Like some sort of servant. She was by no means any man’s servant, and she were never going to take orders like that.

Chaney had finally had enough, she stood, and strode round to the counter. Again she would throw coin Barliman’s way and demanded more ale. It was then she would hear a voice she knew, another woman’s voice spoke. It was Taala, she were stood with another man. One Chaney did not know.

He simply got the usual Chaney treatment of an ice cold stare and Taala that evening, was simply told to leave her be. Taala motioned to Barliman to forget pouring the ale.

She would make her point of convincing Chaney to leave before trouble brewed. After all neither of them could afford a stay in the town jail. Taala knew she was late, late for a meeting at the Dawn Hall. She had to bring Chaney with her.

At length the three companions, Chaney, Taala, and the strange man would leave the Inn, and take their horses back to the Dawn Hall.

What would happen there that evening was more than Chaney ever bargained for……………………
