Honoring a new Captain
To say Chaney was uncomfortable would have been an understatement. She was petrified at the amount of people whom had turned out to the Dawn Hall in anticipation of the new Captain.
Some usual faces were there whom Chaney either knew or had seen before. Fiontann, Taala, Ralyn, Nellye, were those whom she did know or knew of. The others must have been ‘Dawners’ for they wore the sigil on their apparel.
There were also others whom she did not know, and for that matter did not care for, or about. For all her pent up tenseness she sure came across as though everything was fine.
She was far from alright though, even when the new captain Hyrien exchanged a pleasantry toward her she merely stared coldly back at her. A look which was no doubt frowned upon by the captain, Chaney, however, did not care, she knew she had to get out of there, and quickly.
A quick exchange of a congratulations maybe? A simple nod of the head perhaps? Chaney was not sure how she would go about this, but she knew before leaving at the very least she should pay some sort of respect to Hyrien.
Fiontann had obviously been drinking a lot, although not drunk, he was not his usual self. This Chaney just shook her head to herself about. He had been in conversation with Hyrien for a while about something.
Whatever had been said he had suddenly gone from the happy smiling person she had come to know, to a straight faced stern looking man whom seemed to be doing a lot of thinking.
Chaney mustered the courage from somewhere to finally head over to Hyrien, whom was standing at that moment with Fiontann. He had ruffled her hair much to her annoyance at that point and she just frowned at him without word.
Chaney, in her own way, would greet Hyrien and offer her a congratulation on becoming the new captain of The Bloody Dawn. She would make her leave soon after this, knowing the feeling of uncertainty growing quickly inside of her.
She threw a cold glare around the room at the men, all except for Fiontann, whom she granted a faint smile. Finally she headed out of the hall and into the night. Walking briskly over to the copse of trees where she sat so often.
Here she would sit behind a large maple and look up into the night sky, the stars twinkling far off, and whisper a goodnight to her parents whom she had not forgotten and forever remembered deep in her heart.
