Encounters and Apologies Part1
This was becoming a more common ritual for Chaney now, taking Bertnar for a gallop out along by Halecatch Lake, and then the short run up to Bree. This evening as she entered the town though, she was deep in thought.
Not easy thoughts either, as she knew she had to confront Taala and make her apologies. She just hoped that she were in the Inn tonight.
Now was the time, more than ever, since that fateful day she took her anger and sadness out on her. If she didn’t apologize tonight she never would. But what if the man was there as well, Brammy.
She knew he was an ex Blackwold, had run with them, committed heinous acts with them. But, he had left that life behind just like she had done. Surely she could give him a chance, maybe say sorry to him as well?
Surely not, she had never trusted any other man save her father, and she wasn’t about to again save maybe one. The only other man that she may be able to trust was………… well she was beginning to like him at any rate. Plus he had been the only one able to connect with her besides her father.
But Brammy, well perhaps in the moment she could just say sorry and move on. She thought some more and then as she approached the Inn decided it was time, this was it, tonight.
After tying Bertnar to his usual post as it had become, she walked what seemed an age to the main door of the Inn and held the handle for some time.
She was inside, somehow Chaney had managed to force herself inside. Chaney stood there passing her usual cold glare around at the patrons whom were there that night making their own entertainment and merriment.
Then she saw them, she saw Taala and Brammy, they were stood with Ralyn, another Dawner whom she had met briefly before her hunting trip with Fiontann the other day. The three of them were stood with some other folk whom she did not know.
Chaney at first would glare at Brammy whom noticed this and became somewhat uncomfortable himself and looked away. Taala had also noticed Chaney and immediately began to feel her throat metaphorically speaking, as she remembered the vice like grip she had put on her.
It was now or never for her, Chaney knew she had to suck up all of her pride, all of her inner will to do this, or fail miserably and walk out. That would have been the easy option for her.
She closed her eyes momentarily, composed herself, and then clearing her mind, ridding her thought of all the yammer and hollering that were surrounding her that evening in the Inn she slowly started to walk over.
As Chaney stepped in front of Taala, the huddle of folk seemed to quieten down in anticipation of something. All eyes fixed on both women. What happened next was something that no one would have thought.
Dawners and non Dawners alike watched, intrigued, as Chaney slipped her hood from her face, shook her hair from her eyes slightly, and raised her gaze to Taala. Her eyes were not cold and hard as they had been so often.
A soft emerald shade glinted in the candle light as she gazed deep into Taala’s eyes. Her hands moved up and touched Taala’s cheeks ever so softly, and she uttered the words “ I am sorry “ before slowly and softly sliding her fingers down her cheeks and away.
She then simply turned to Brammy with no emotion and said the same words. Her gaze then fixed upon each other person close by with the usual cold glare.
Her eyes would eventually meet those of Fiontann’s , where at that point they would soften and become warm. A hint of a faint smile could be seen on Chaney’s face before she would retreat to ‘her’ corner as she called it……
