It was a rainy day and Fiontann was in the pony as usual, enjoying the famous ale of the Prancing Pony, he was looking at some papers when a stranger arrived. He presented himself as Notvar and asked if he found Fiontann. Fiontann said yes and the man told him that he had brought dire news, Fiontann prompted him to go on and he said that he had news of Deorgast, he told Fion that he had found him, beaten and stabbed. And that just before his death he asked of Notvar to inform Fiontann, which he did.
Those news struck Fiontann like a burning blade into his heart, his dear friend Deorgast was dead, the man with whom he spend so much time, in the Prancing Pony, in the woods, was dead... It was too much for him to handle, but he did his best, he managed to keep calm, and when Neyaa arrived he told her about it. She started crying but he remained there, silent, motionless, as if a cold rock, though he was mourning inside.. After some moments he got up and ordered a second ale, which he drank to in memory of Deor, he knew that he would like them to carry on happy, and he chose to do it, to carry on remembering all the happy moments with his friend.
Hardoleth's arrival helped him succeed, his Captain brought a contract, so Fiontann had something to keep his mind busy. Though later... He found Nimeway, and she told him the news about Burlnard's death, Burlnard, and ex member of the Bloody Dawn but a friend of his was dead. suddenly he felt Death too close... But not to him, Death was around him, and that was scary, he wasn't able to do anything, he could only stand there and watch people close to him die, if it was for himself it wouldn't bother him, he knew how to defend himself too well, but it was others...
All the talk with Nime brought up the matter with Rossethor and Fion knew that he must save Ross at least, his other friend who was caught by Orcs, somewhere in Angmar or worse. He had to find him, once the contract was over he would set out to find information, but for now he cannot.
Death... Death is all around him, threatening his friends, his company, his men, his family and he wasn't able to do anything, but to make sure that no one had to be threatened by dead again, he would be less lenient towards his men. He would instill discipline in them, so that they would think less of insubordination, which could mean injury or even death, he had to keep them focused and strong, and most of all together.
