Nimeway laid her little son into the craddle. Ber was wrapped in a warm cloth, having been just fed and slipping off into his own dreamland. Nime yawned, being tired herself. She plopped down onto the bed just a few steps away from Ber's cradle when he began to cry out again. This caused Nime to jump up and lift him from the cradle, rocking him, asking him, 'What's wrong?'
Yet almost immediately after she lifted him, the little baby's cries turned into giggles. Nime rocked him over the cradle before his eyes grew heavy again and she could set him down. She laid down again before hearing the baby's little cry. Of course, Nime jumped to her feet, yet when she lifted the baby, he did the same as before. The pitiful cry turned into a series of giggles.
Nime rolled her eyes, 'Darling, stop playing with me, or I'll just stop responding to your cries.' Of course the threat was empty and Nime would always come to his side if he cried, but she said it to him and sat him back into the cradle to sleep once more. She waited a few minutes with her hand gently cradling his head until she thought for sure he was asleep. Then Nime turned and crawled into her own bed, closing her eyes. Sleep was just about to engulf Nime when the pitiful cry rang out and she sighed. Back to the cradle Nime went and she picked Ber up.
'That's it,' she said to him, carrying him back to her bed, 'If you want my attention so badly, then I shall give it to you.' She laid down into her bed, hugging Ber gently to her as the baby began to yawn. He slipped into a gentle sleep, curled up beside his mother. Nime kissed the top of his head, fighting back her own sleep. Yet she was not successful at that, and she herself fell asleep with Ber in her arms.
The two slept on the bed, leaving Baloo to watch over them. Baloo loved Ber, watching his every move and ensuring he was well kept and safe. When Ross and Nime were in the other room and Ber slept, Baloo curled up under the cradle and kept an eye on him. If Ber awoke, Baloo ran to Nime and Ross to let them know that their son had awoken. And now Baloo laid at the foot of the bed as Nime and Ber slept. He kept his eyes open and on the door, occasionally glancing back to the two to check on them. A guard dog he was, just one with the largest heart.
