Wednesday Sparring Training Snowbourne
| Date: | November 27th, 2013 |
|---|---|
| Time: | 14:00 Servertime |
| Location: | Gather at Snowbourne Meadhall |
Event details:
The sparring training will consist of spars with unsharpened weapons followed by possible fist fights. This is an attempt to strengthen ourselves and keep our combat arms ready for any upcoming threats. So I expect none to hold back on their strength while fighting.
I am looking forward to seeing you and your comrades there.
This event is of Rohan themed kind. Therefore I'd like to restrict it to Rohan roleplaying characters.
People of all levels are free to join. If you are not of high enough level you can travel to Snowbourne by using a mithril coin at the stables of Bree.
This event will be an attempt for me to experiment on a roll based sparring/duelling system for those that would wish to try it. Such system is more or less as follows, with room for change:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is well known that duels were used to settle arguments, or when someones honor had been sullied. However as we are players and are to show mutual respect to other players there would be some rules needed for this.
1. No leathal outcomes, unless agreed upon OOCly in witness of a judge.
2. No forced injuries, any type of injuries achieved from spars and duels are decided by the player of the character.
3. No poweremoting, we're not ninjas flying through the air defying the laws of gravity, neither are we Ezio Audiatore from Assassins Creed who can take on squadrons of enemies at once. Use common sense please.
4. In spars, always use unsharpened weapons to reduce the chance of injuries.
5. Duels ends after either part have recieved 5 hits, the 5th hit being the final.
The system explained.
In duels there is always a need of a judge to witness it and the terms of condition between the duelling characters. In spars, if both characters are well acquainted with the system, or wish to spar their own way, there's little need of a judge.
Example of a fight:
The judge starts with creating a fellowship between him an the two combatants. The judge then asks them to roll, the highest roller will be the one that starts the initial attack.
Let us assume that Dueller 1 is the highest roller in this example:
-Dueller 1 begins with an attacking emote, stating where on Dueller 2 such attack is aimed-
Dueller 2: Makes a roll for a successful parry of the attack.
Dueller 2: If the parry is successful, he emotes the action of the parry.
- This is followed by Dueller 2 making a roll for a successful Counterattack
-If counter attack is succesfull, Dueller 2 emotes an attack, along with where on Dueller 1 he is aiming at.
-This is followed by a roll from Dueller 1, in order to parry such attack, and roll once again to attempt a counter attack.
Dueller 2: If fail. They emote taking a hit to the area of where Dueller 1 aimed.
-This is followed by Dueller 1 making a new attack, giving Dueller 2 a new oppertunity to parry.
(Or, another option here, to make it more equal would be to have both Duellers roll once again like in the beginning , and have the highest roller be the attacker, otherwise Dueller 2 will need 2 successfull rolls before being able to attack, which I personally find realistic, but what others might find unequal, opinions on this are welcome!)
This type of attack, parry, counter attack, hit, will go back and forth until either part recieves 5 hits, the 5th hit will be the final blow which ends the duel. Resulting in the losing player emoting recieving the final hit, and making an emote accordingly.
