
Marriage contract between Hanfrere, daughter of Hani of the Broadbeams and Augir Hammerfist, son of Halgrim of the Longbeards.
For your acceptance to wed Hanfrere, daughter of Hani, on this joyous day of betrothal; We, the family of the bride agree:
-To safely deliver the bride to the house of the groom on the day of the Abkân. Or if so desired, to a suitable place of ceremony, near or in conjunction with the before aforementioned house.
We also agree to the following terms:
-To provide the necessary guards to safely escort the bride to the ceremony.
-To acquire enough supplies to host the feast to follow the ceremony. All the necessary expense will be met, to provide a feast that honours Mahal and the family of the bride.
I, the undersigned, (referred to hereinafter as the Groom), agree to honour the following terms:
-On the day that marks the beginning of the Azlâf, the following gifts will be brought before the maiden in question and her family:
-The bride will be given a steel chest filled with 4000 gold coins , or the the same value in golden ore, silver, gems or mithril. This sum must be acquired from personal belongings and /or provided by relatives.
Additional gifts for the family on the day of betrothal will include:
-One large pouch of finest pipe weed from the Shire.
-One gift of Skaril's choosing for Norgi, son of Norgi.
During the period of Azlâf, the Groom are required to build a new home, or expand on his existing one. The subsequent addition or construction, should amount to a minimum of;
-One large main hall for feasts and entertaining guests, kitchen and dormitory.
-Adjacent to, or in close proximity to the house of the Groom, a suitable pigs den must be constructed.
On the day of Abkân, the following gifts will be provided to the attending members of the brides family;
-One gilded silver lantern, for the bride. In addition to the gilded lantern; one fine gold and emerald ring bearing the motif of two crossed hammers , the symbol of the family of the Groom.
-One pouch of finest pipe weed, along with a fine pipe made of lebethron wood and aurochs horn, for the father of the bride.
-One fine steel axe for Norgi, son of Norgi, with the relief of a dragon in gold and rubies, on the hilt.
On the completion of the ceremony of Abkân, and once the Bride and Groom have entered their home as Husband and Wife, the undersigned must start to raise the required sum for the offspring.
-The sum raised for each young beard born into the family should amount to 2000 gold coins, be it gems, silver , ore or mithril.
Safe guarding the zarb is of the utmost importance and its security must be upheld at all times! It shall be guarded as a treasure and heirloom of the family until all terms and conditions of the zarb are fulfilled. The zarb will be regarded as fulfilled when Augir (the undersigned) and Hanfrere have both been called to the Halls of Waiting, and the settling of the child(ren)’s inheritance has been completed.
Should the Groom not comply to the terms set before the ceremony of Azlâf, the contract will be regarded as breached and will be burned. Any gifts will be retained by the family of the bride. The family of the bride will also have the right to claim further compensation for the shaming of the bride, which can include coin, property or physical punishment of the Groom.
Should the bride and /or her family not comply to the terms set before the ceremony of Azlâf, the contract will be regarded as breached and will be burned. Any gifts will return to the family of the Groom.
Disputes arising between the the two parties in this contract shall be heard and judged by an arbitrator of the families choosing.
