Journey into the Barrow downs III - The first

Slowly the group entered the Barrow and an immediate cold feel came over them. Though, heedless proceeded down the narrow tunnel which curved every here and there, eventually they found themselves standing confront of an Oval shaped room with a single grey pillar in the Centre. There was many webs all over and they often stuck to the group members feet as they walked into the room. Threland, Bramson and Colson went by the left side of the pillar. Eofeole went by the right with Isuara following behind him.

Suddenly as Eofeole came to the side of the pillar he hear a hiss from the webs to his right. Quickly he turned smote his spear to the direction, impaling a very large spider. Killing it immediately. He looked in shock at the spider as he had never seen one this large before, when it was still standing it measured up to Eofeole's knees. He kicked the corpse off of his spear but some of it's filth remained on it. Isaura hardly noticed what happened and had only seen a dead a spider as she turned and looked in awe at the creature. Eofeole took one short glance at the disgusting substance and on his spear then walked on with Isaura behind. The rest of the group oblivious to the spider even being there.

At the other end of the room the path continued and they walked down it till they saw the path split to 3 other openings. One ahead of them and one at each side. They first decided to take the path to their right but found only a dead end with more webs. They returned the split paths and stood for a while, considering which way they should take next. After a brief discussion they had decided to go right again. There the path went upwards with stairs and curved slowly to the left. As soon as the company got to the top of the stairs they stopped and gasped as they saw a little light hovering at the end of the passed. It moved around every now and then and they wondered it what it was. Slowly they approached and quickly a few of them leapt forward, each try pierce the light with swords and spears. They hit the mark and the light dispursed into a glitter light dust which slowly fell to the ground. Neither of them wanted to tamper or touch with dust which seemed very appealing to their eyes, a treasure it would seem but possibly at a cost?

They carried on and soon enough the path descended with stairs and curved sharply left once more, following further they eventually ended up back at the crossed paths and begun to seem frustrated, "Naught, just queer things like glowing lights and spider webs. No treasure, nothing." One of the Bree-landers said. They agreed and turned left, going back towards the oval room where the spider's corpse lay and back to the path which led out of the Barrow.

It was still raining and the sun was beginning to set, but the company was determined to find at least something of value.
