Of the Free Men of the North.



(First Age: Little is known of those Men related to the Edain who took up the Great March but stopped in the Lands East of Beleraind.)

 (Second Age:  Middle-Earth is cast in the Great Shadow, including Rhovanion and the East Wild Lands, hence the Northmen are enslaved untill the coming of the Elf-man 'Gil-Galad'.)

 Third Age: 490 - The First Invation of the East-folk begins, with the coming of the Balchoth and charioterring Wains, striking first into Southern Northman lands in Rhovanion and attacking Northern Gondor.

T.A: 500 - The self-named East-Victor, King of the Sea-folk, defeats the invading Easterlings. The freed Northmen are 'given' their rightful lands, by the King of the Sea-folk, including lands South and East of the Great Wood.

T.A: 1000 - The Wise-men come to Middle-Earth and the false-Elf is named Gandalfr, "Wand-elf" in the tounge of the North-folk.

T.A: 1050 - The Great Wood is shrouded and cloaked in a shadow yet to be seen by the eyes of the Northmen. 'Black Squirrels', Giant Spiders and ill-beasts are seen on it's Eves and the Woodsmen flee. The short-Men migrate from the Vales of Langflood.

T.A: 1248 - The South-men defeat a large army of weaponed-warriors from the East.

T.A: 1250 - King Vidugavia, "Wood-lord", strongest of the Princes of Rhovanion, welcomes 'Valacar' of the Sea-men into his Court. 'To better under your customs', he says unto us. In 1254 - The Gondor Prince courts and weds the King of Wilderland's daughter, Vidumavi. "Wood-maiden". She is named by him "Galadwen". The next coming Year, their son if born and named in the North-tounge Vinitharya, "Strong-armyman".

 In the coming few years, Gondor is torn in two as those opposed the Northman sitting upon it's throne raise arms against him. He flees to land of his mother and musters many weaponed-men.

 T.A: 1635 - The Great Plague sweeps across the lands of Wilderland, thronging settlements and killing Man and beast. The population is more than halved.

T.A:  1770 - Marhari, "Horse-warrior", prince of the Kingdom of Rhovaion, is born. And in 1812 his son, Marhwini, "Horse-friend", is born.

T.A: 1851 - The Easterlings again attack the Western Lands, invading Southern Wilderland and Northern Gondor. Where in 1856 the Battle of the Plains is joined and the King of Gondor and the King of Rhovanion (Marhari) recieve their death-wound. Following this in 1857, Marhwini, Marhari's son, gather and lead some of the remaining North-folk West to the Vales of Langflood and name themselves the Éothéod.

T.A: 1899 - The Northmen revolt against the Wainriders and East-folk. The revolt is aided by a timely attack by the Men of Gondor. The revolt is succesful, but the ill-armed and ill-armoured Northmen-thralls loose many lives. This is not helped by Gondor's inability to further the war-path and the weaponed-men of the North-folk continue to see their enemies away.

T.A: 1977 - Frumgar, Forthwini's son, drives the remenants of Angmar's forces from Northern Langflood.

T.A: 2001 - 2012 - Fram, now Lord of the Éothéod, slays the Great Worm Scatha. The Dwarves, already troubled by the Great Worms and Dragons of the Ered Mithrim and the Withered Heath, murder Fram over the Dwarf Hoard.

T.A: 2501 - Léod the Horse-lord, is slain by the father of horses Felaróf. Eorl becomes Lord of the Éothéod at sixteen Winters and tames the killer of his father. In 2510 the Northmen of the Vale ride South to aid and behest of Gondor to fight in the Battle of the Feild of Celebrant, in the Wold. Henceforth the Northman Kingdom of the Riddermark is founded.

T.A: 2770 - The Great Worm Smaug the Golden desolates the Northern lands surrounding the Lonely Mountain and destroys Dale ceasing the reign of King Girion. Smaug the Fell enters the Lonely Mountain killing the Dwarf-folk, save King Thrór and his son Thrain II. Smaug remains incontroll of the North for a 170 Years.

T.A: 2941 - Bilbo the Magnificent arrives in the North-lands with Gandalfr and a company of Dwarves. The Battle of Esgaroth ensues in this which results in the death of Smuag at the arrow of Bard of the House of Girion. The Northmen of Esgaroth and surrounding lands fight in the Battle of the Five Armies. In 2944 Dale is rebuilt and the New Line is founded and the Kingdom of Dale grows in incompas many lands of the previous Kingdom of Rhovanion.

T.A: 2977 - Bain, Bard's son, becomes King of Dale and Esgaroth on Long-Lake and extends the borders of his Kingdom far beyond the Walls of Dale. His son, Brand, becomes King in 3007  and on the 17th of March 3019 the Easterlings invade once more and the Battle of Dale takes place, resulting in the death of Brand, son of Bain and Dain Ironfoot II, Nain's son, but ultimately a hand in the Victory of the Free Peoples. Bard II, Brand's son, becomes King of the Kingdom of Dale and becomes close friends with the Reuinted Kingdom.
