Rain fell swift upon the road beneath the feet of Celeg-Rana, my horse, as I rode through the high moor to Imladris, having received an anonymous summons thusly. Upon entering Imladris, before me stood a young elven woman with dark hair and shining green eyes, her eyes shone out in annoyance as if to say 'What took you so long?' But she did not speak. She merely mounted the horse that stood near her and took off, I followed her, naturally, as I was quite intrigued, and had the feeling that this was no simple chance meeting. She stopped abruptly in the center of the valley, we stood for a moment simply eyeing each other mutely for a moment before I decided to speak. 'Suilad, Mae L'ovannen, gwathel.' I said, bowing my head politely in greeting to her, she just stared. Finally, she spoke. 'Suilad. I see you received the summons of my father.' It then dawned upon me who she was. 'You are Armaiel? Sister of Amonren?' She nodded, replying. 'And you are Mariseiel?' I returned the nod. She eyed my warily for a moment, my own sense of unease reflected in her eyes. 'How do I know you are indeed the woman father sent for to take Amonren and I to Bree-town?' She inquired. I reached into the satchel that hung from my saddle, pulling out a letter in fine script that she might read it
To Lady Mariseiel Arganel.
I send this letter to you regarding my two children, Armaiel and Amonren, who
hough capable of knowledge in books, know little of what truly goes on in
the mortal realms. I ask then with a humble heart that you would do what my
wife and I cannot, and take my children into Bree-town with you for a period of ten
years that they may learn of the outer realms.
Sincerely,
One in your debt. .
Armaiel finished reading the letter and looked to me with a single nod, and I was lead on into the home of her family. Thus were my caun, Armaiel and Amonren, found.
